How can I take off the front tire without a jack stand?
I want to remove the front wheel from the bike so I can have the tire replaced. I's so much faster than having to hang around the shop and waiting for the tech to do it for you. And cheeper too !

I have not looked at the 14, but there is usually a place were you can put a piece of Black pipe, ( iron water pipe) through the motor mounts or frame / steering neck and lift the bike with two guys. Then set the pipe on two tables or blocks. Check too make sure the bike is stable and then remove the wheel.
You will need a large hex nut axle removing tool, to remove the axle.
OR... you could do it the safe way and use a purpose built stand http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=27847&department=642&division=6
Oh ya..... if you had to ask ..... maybe... ah.. maybe not.... OH...go for it, its your bike :d

Oh, when we had my front forks/triple tree off, we had my bike on a wooden saw horse. that should work for you
put the wooden horse over the front of the bike, have some folks help you lift it up, then use cargo straps to secure it in the air
this method should be real cheap too!

Thanks Tampa . I'm a little to faaaaaar away here in Atlanta. I do have the hex socket although. The other end of a sparkplug socket. Now I'm thinking of using the rear jackstand on the rear to stablize the bike and jack the front end up by placing a floor jack under the engine by the oil drain plug.

you could use 2 soft tie straps around clip ons,and then hook to a overhead support (rafter or such) w/a come along rachet ,it would make like a sling...

engine hoist, ceiling joist whatever, sling it , hang it from the top tripple clamp with nylon sling . Before I found a frt stand that fit, I improvised , got the frt end unweighted this way, and slid my forks up in the clamps, to lower my bike.

I use a floor jack at the exhaust collector while removing the wheel, then rest the forks on a couple of 2x4's while I dismount & remount the tire. Works great.

Or, you could just spend the money on a a set of Pit-Bulls and stop being such a tight ass?
You drop that bike on it's side just one time trying to be cheap and it's going to cost you double what a Front/Rear set of Pit-Bulls would cost.

+1 lol
I never knew people that had sportbikes didn't make a rear and front stand purchase 1st thing. $99 front/rear @ handystands.com if you want really cheap.
Sounds like a bunch of nonsense useless hardwork up above these last 2 post.

Dubious...calm down brother, we're just stating what we think. Don't get so offensive. We're chatting, not arguing about the subject. My post wasn't intended for those 3 quotes you posted. I didn't read between those lines. I was reading between the lines of the original topic.."What can I use so I can remove my front tire?" That's what "I" was commenting about. In my opinion if you don't have them already, when someone purchases a bike, they should buy them ASAP, because in about 2500miles they will be wanting a new rear tire and a front in about 5000miles. That is all.

A real ghetto way, with two people:
Put the bike on the sidestand, and have one guy lever it up in the air. Remove the wheel, and then put some blocks or something under the fork ends.
I have levered the bike up like this to check for binding with the rear wheel.
Now, I don't endorse this, but you could do it this way.

Well I do have a rear Pit Bull stand that I did purchase very soon after bringing home the long waited for Black ZX1400. That was a long wait. What the hell was Kawasaki up to? I knew that when I bought the bike that there was not a center stand. I have performed many oil changes and replaced the rear tire. I just don't think that I would use a front stand that much. I only need one know because I want to change the front tire. But of all the ideas I like the ceiling hoist the best. Thanks for the help. I looked on the Handy site . Great deal.
