I am convinced its only use is for cell phone talkers, who's calls are rudely interruped by driving conditions
My sentiments exactly.
I've hated ABS in every vehicle I've ever owned including my current one. Many different makes and they all suck.
Hit a bump or expansion joint when braking, get a little air on the wheel and the ABS freaks out like a crack whore who just lost her pipe.
I believe in devices that truly make vehicles safer, but IMO all ABS does is subsidize the mediocre driving skills of inattentive drivers/assholes yapping on their cell phones.
It's a defecit to attuned drivers.
No way in hell I want ABS on a motorcycle. No way.

Let's stir this dead horse soup a bit further. If the ABS is really just a piece of useless crap for those who prefer doing it in tights, then what are traction control and slipper clutches for? They don't improve the bikes' performance for sure, a clear contradiction to what the RR and MotoGP bikes are made for. Maybe they are there to make the bike's performace more manageable for the rider, the human, the PRO, when the limits get really close and only then. When the performance of the bike, the machine, is more manageable for the rider, the result, the sum of the machine and the human, betters. I can see similarities here to the ABS brakes.
Just a thought.

Hmmm, funny that these same pro race bikes you speak of, DON'T have ABS...now, why do you suppose that is, huh?

So sorry to hear that buddy, but look at it this way, now you have an excuse to trade her in for a newer, prettier, faster model.
I too hate ABS on most vehicles, it is useful on pickup trucks because you have such a huge difference in proportioning front to rear due to weight loaded vs. unloaded. I also find it helpful on snow/ice but the rest of the time I wish I could switch it off and feel and brake for myself.

Exactly FBA ...... they do not have ABS because, It does not work better than what an experianced rider can perform in various conditions and situations. Maybe it might work better in a straight up panic braking condition with limited traction. How often are we faced with that senario?? I can think of once or twice in the past ten years or so

As far as I am aware (and I could be wrong) Kawasaki don't offer an ABS equipped 1400 in the UK.
If they had done, I would have bought one.

...it'd fit if you had a mega-beergut, but from the photos of you and your lady, that's not a problem for you two...now for some of us ...but I'm with the mechanic with his thoughts of not buying the 14 based on his desire to have ABS on Kawasaki's flagship sportsbike....why have it all for the bike that has it all?...still, I'd buy one without ABS just because its a kickass bike, period....
