Fascinating comment. And what exactly is a "real biker"?
At a push and IMHO I'd qualify it as someone who has a passion for motorcycles. Understands the principles of their operation. Rides in all weathers. Is not concerned about how they appear to others. Knows one end of a wrench from another, and can perform routine maintenance on their own bikes. Has some knowledge of the history of motorcycles and motorcycle sport. Stays up to date on the state of the art. Understands that ABS doesn't make your brakes LESS powerful
I wouldn't characterize someone as a real biker JUST because they buy the fastest, and/or pay extra for "go even quicker goodies", and scorch the quarter in sub 10 second times. Nor because they've done some track days. Enthusiasts' maybe, but "real" biker...nah!
Here's to the wimp wagon

Oh and here's to the ZX14
Here's to misinformed trolls

At least Mechanic uses a proper computer (Mac) but his choice to go with a moped with ABS instead of a 14 is so . . .

What a dork...ST1300...just for ABS...learn how to ride. Yup, you get a medal alright...for clouded judgment. KHI was better off without you buying a ZX14 anyway...

I know you're just an angler throwing out another quality post.
The content of your responses couldn't possibly represent your true grasp of reality.

Hardly, but when I see your ridiculous post and title, I have to wonder why anyone would bother even posting something as pointless as that...

1) KHI could care less about your silly antics
2) Most of us here could care even less than KHI

What can anyone here say about a "rider" that chose an ST1300 over a ZX14...all because of ABS? Most of here can ride and don't give a shit about ABS, which has yet to be proven as anything more than a marketing tool aimed at ST1300 riders. When you say you made that choice due to the lack of ABS...I have to ask this: If you wanted a ZX14 but can't brake without the misguided sense of security of an ABS equipped bike, why the fuck didn't you at least buy something closer in power or performance to the ZX14, like an FJR. Your post smacks of TROLL.

My grasp of reality isn't really in question...but your ability to ride a bike might be. Maybe you would have been better off with this...looks more like your style of bike...and it doesn't even need ABS

Mech while I understand safety is of the utmost importance to you, I would honestly give the 14 a try since it's brakes have been so well raved about that even the Zx-10 guys have actually fitted their bikes with the 14's front braking units. Yes the feel and grab is apparently that good.

I mean if safety is your main issue, don't you think you are taking a risk putting full trust into a ABS system? Nothing is invincible. If the system fails when you grab a hardy handful of front caliper and stomp on the peddle your in trouble. However i don't know you and for all i know You may still treat a abs system like a normal braking system and just squeeze on the brakes smooth and firm in emergency situations with the abs acting as a backup if you get on the binders too hard. A wise technique but one could get into the habit of the abs always kicking in and if it ever fails, that's trouble.

There was a vid posted here sometime back where the uk car show "5th gear" had a run on the zx-14 and near the end of the segment the male host gets on the brakes hard and the bike "Lurches" like it has abs. I think we ruled out it was a ABS 14 and while the system is nice, that kind of lurching or weight shifting could really upset things if your in mid curve or still trying to maneuver. Besides while you may like abs on the bikes you been on, it may not please you well on the 14's design.

Congrats on your honda and ride safe. But if you ever get a chance to throw a leg on a 14 and really give it a try, go for it. You may like it after all.

Yup... no lawsuit when the ABS fails to keep him from hitting the back of a Short Yellow Bus

Me thinks he be gone -- couldn't take the heat. I'm back, stirrin' up shit again, as usual. Been busy for the past while -- personal crap. Anyway, I gotta say, he's whacked...I heard he bought a J.D. sit down mower with ABS too...and he looks funny too in that avatar. LOL

Steve -- I was heading to bike week, but my divorce got in the way...so I'm guessin' it'll have to be next year.
