Suzuki is set to reveal a limited-edition version of its eight-year-old Hayabusa later this year to mark the end of production of the legendary bike.
While the Busa name is likely to continue with an all-new model, the first generation is set to retain its title as the world's fastest bike. This is because since its launch manufacturers have agreed to a voluntary 186mph top speed limit.
The very first Busas in 1999 managed 194mph during independent tests.
The limited edition GSX1300RZ Hayabusa is expected to be revealed within the next few weeks, featuring specifications derived from a similar limited-edition Busa sold in America last year.

The biggest change from the full-production versions is set to be the paintwork.
Unlike the plain blue or black paint options offered in the UK this year, the Limited Edition Busa will get two-tone white and silver paint.
Like the stock 2007-spec UK bikes, it will get a black frame, but the wheels are expected to be silver rather than black to complement the colourscheme.
Only around 100 of the limited-edition Busas are expected to be offered in the UK.

Wasn't that the one that was recalled and when it came back it couldn't match the 194 top speed?

i don't know...but if one INDEPENTENT TEST was good back then ..then why haven't someone step up with a zx14 independent test... to take the claim from the busa... i just don't like busa's... i can hear it already when the new busa comes out ... but its still only a 186mph busa... so why even build anything

By changing a the front sprocket - Chad - i.e. son of OldKawBoy..... ran 196 in the mile at Maxton in April - showroom stock - note that is not terminal velocity(i.e. top acheivable speed) but trap speed at the end of a distance limited run..... Of course as long as you keep the restrictor there - the past Busa achievment holds - ya just got to keep the leash on the dog (Kaw)f or the bus to win.

while terminal velocity of the busa, zx-12 and zx-14 may be similiar, the distance needed to obtain this terminal velocity on the 14 is much smaller.... in other words, even those mythical 194 mph busas would need at least a mile to run the zx-14 down..... just some food for thought...

I believe that the top achievable speed for a showroom stock (but regeared) ZX14 is north of 200MPH.....I am trying to get 200MPH at Maxton and Bonneville this year - now that takes a bit of set-up work.

Considering that a very lightly modded 14 has dipped into the 8's already......we know which bike rules in the practical sense....

Big amen there and thats FROM a busa rider. Top speed is one thing but how quick you get there is the main thing. some busa guys were raving about a recent fastbikes test where the bus was a bit quicker then the ninja in anything within a 1/4 mile. They Don't factor in those neutering flies. However in the standing mile the ninja did 182mph in just under 27 seconds. The busa managed 178 in a hair over 27 seconds.

What impresses me (and keeps the 14 on my mind) the most is what gains the bike gets with just flies out, mapping and a better air filter. Numbers that rival that of piped Hayabusa's. In my years of riding, i've learned that "If your gonna Cheat (Speed) do it quietly as possible". If cops can hear you, it's just as well if and when they see you. A bike as fast (if not faster) then a piped and tuned busa yet still quiet leaves alot of room for alot of cheating.

I say how about we wait until the 14 gets what the busa will get and (the turbo ran on mike slowes bike) and then see what happen. Don't forget, 14's motor is doing what the busa is doing on the turbo so wait until the odds even. By the way, I'm not taking from slowe. He's a bad man!
