Pipes turning colors

I have a muzzy and power commander on my bike and if it is adjusted right are the pipes susposed to turn blue. or have any coloration to them?

I've never seen metal that didn't change colors after 20 million degrees of heat hit it. I wouldn't be concerned. A friend of mine has his wrapped and at night you can see them glowing red when he idles a while.

Even stainless changes color if you don't keep polishing it.

I had a zx 1100 and I don't recall it coloring like that at all, it had a muzzy and it was wicked.

Bzzz. Wrong x 2.

1) If they are wrapped, how are you seeing them glowing? Are you saying you can see them through open spots in the wrap? If so, sloppy wrap job and the hot spots that come with that. If not, I wanna see a picture.

2) Nothing wrong with wrapping a SS pipe at all. Less heat back to the motor, onto the radiator and thus on the airbox.

I can post a pic of my last Akrapovic that I rewrapped @ 12K miles. Header was in excellent condition and is now on Outsiders bike that has seen 9's with a stock motor

All I know is there have been cracks caused by the extra metal expansion - esp at welds. That does not mean it will happen for sure, but......



......my header and pipes are hand made and I don't want to find out :-)

blitz its at night in the dark you can see the orange glow through the cloth wrap. maybe he should've wrapped more or better, who knows.
