removing air filter screen

Does this help at all? The map I have installed is made for this, but I don't have it removed. I was also wondering if the screen helps hold the filter element from coming apart?

if you take the screen out,it will not affect your paper filter or strength of surrounding case......."what so ever",done this my 02 R1,ZX-12,& 14 ...it's your call,it will pull harder once your air box starts to pressurize,w/less restriction.....

The filter will maintain its integrity with the screen out. It's primary function is a flow regulator and a deresonator. The problem is, your bike might run lean as hell without it and you will lose power unless you dyno and remap.

I jerked the screen off of my track bike filter, just because it was there and I was there. If i happen to be near that location with the 14, it'll be gone from that bike too.

Wel, like I said the map I have is for the screen removed so I'm good to go in that department. So if it will give more umph, I'll probably take it off tomorrow and take it for a spin and see how it reacts.

I removed the screen today. I took it for a ride and it seems fine. I didn't really get on it hard, too dang cold to get any real speed up.

Just wait, it will be weak in the midrange, and knock like hell if the flys are out on WOT launches.

Why would it do all that? The map I have is made for having the screen out. Does it help the engine breathe that much more with it out?

if the screen is anything like the 12, it seriously impedes the airflow.
