My turbo ZX14
Just an update, the American Turbo kit made 305hp/170ft/lbs tq on the dyno. This was at 10psi with C16 racing fuel.
This is a street kit, and can make over 270hp on pump gas. I'm strictly drag racing. I told the guys at ATP that I wanted 300hp, at least, and don't call til you get it. LOL, second pass on the dyno!!! First pass the boost was set at only 8psi.
They ran the piss out of the bike on the dyno, and the clutch never slipped!! It has 1460 miles on the original clutch, with over 100 passes down the drag strip, and can still handle 300hp on the dyno. Freaking amazing.
I'll probably leave the stock original clutch in it for the first time down the track. I think it would probably be a good thing to have a little "slippage".
Will also be running the MTC multi-stage lockup clutch, and a +12" over Tracdynamics swingarm.
Can't post anymore pics right now, but when I get the bike, and it has all the plastic on it, I'll snap some pics.

Hmmmm. Looks like a great kit to at least give a thought to.
Do you know if they use the whole frame plenum or do they cut your stock frame out and add a plenum? I ask that because you shipped your bike but I'd rather install the kit myself but I am not interested in a kit that needs for the frame to be cut and re-welded. I am only interested in 250 or so on pump gas as well.
Thanks for posting and that thing is nasty at that power level.
ALSO, are they supplying custom maps with their kits that they sell?

You can do the kit yourself. No cutting of the frame, or welding as far as I know. They can supply a custom map, but I recommend that you put your bike on a dyno, and have one done.
I think they will sell you a kit for the same price as a MR. Turbo. There's a lot of trick shit in this kit, but I can't post all the pics.
On pump gas, your gonna get about 270hp, and I think around 150ft/lbs of tq.
They just sold another kit to somebody in the Southeast, and they guy is going to do the install himself.

Was the same bike run on that same dyno before the turbo installation? If so, what were the numbers?

161hp/101ft/lbs tq. That was with custom map, and Brock sidewinder, on pump gas.

Paul, was that SAE dyno #'s or STD? Also with a 12 inch stretch you would probaly see around 8-12hp parasitic power loss with all that chain. Did they dyno with or without swingarm? It's going to be a handfull next year, goodluck!!

Dunno SAE or STD, ask Bob. They did it with the stock arm and those Roarin Toyz extensions at about 6" over stock.
Will run the same chain, and basically the same lengh, but a Trac Dynamics club foot swingarm.
Probably will go back to 11" over eventually, but to be honest, I think traction at the lengh might be an issue.
I think right now at 6 or 7" over, its too short, and will just wheelie all the way down the track. But you gotta start somewhere.
Did I mention I was once a test pilot?? Well, this is gonna be a lot like that. Start off slow, and controlled, and work your way down to faster and faster times. If the front end comes up at over 130mph, I don't care who you are, you gonna blow over, and this bike has that potential. We'll just have to play with the multi-stage to see where it comes in, and also play with retarding the timing at different points.
Might eventually get a programmable boost controller once I see where my "problem" areas are.

Talked to Harry today and what a great guy to talk with. He talked to me for about an hour about the kit, the BB turbo which is a GT-30, the stainless header, the billet gauge cages, fuel pump, etc. He said that the kit is about 8-10 hours to install which includes taking the oil pan off for the return fitting. He supplies a custom map for the kit with the race gas tune up and all for the $5200 price. I am gonna go this route since he was extremely patient and took time to just chit chat about his kit and how well the 14 responds to a turbo.

Just don't tell GPW.....he'll be mighty sore. Thanks Brent, Harry's a great guy, and knows his stuff. And it won't take him months to get the kit to you. You'll be running the map made on my bike, for race gas. I haven't picked it up yet, probably be there week after next.
And yes, its $6000 installed. Found a place called Eagleone Express that shipped my bike to California for less than $600 one-way, which is reasonable.
If you know what your doing, you can install it yourself. I have problems changing the oil, so that was never gonna happen.
Stay tuned for ride/race report sometime in next month, or March.
