$$$$7500 mile service$$$$
I almost traded my ZX14 today after my stealership service shop explained the 7500 mile maintenance is costing me $500. Other than inspecting things tons of stuff I suspect doesn't need inspecting, the bike is getting an oil change and spark plug change.

Did mine myself, cost about 30 bucks. Parts Mobil 1 and filter. Put a wrench on every nut, bolt and screw and adjusted the chain. Get to know your bike

Ya like an idiot and for the warranty I dropped it off.
I know the work is simple compared to the track bike project I now have in a trillion pieces and hanging from a wooden horse. Brake stuff is all replaced (plus steel lines added front and back), front forks and rear shock suspension are sent off to GMD Computrack to be revalved, resprung, reworked and set to my weight range. 520 chain and sprockets are here. I bought Cheetah track plastics from a CCS racer thats getting a new bike, etc. I should've changed my own ZX14 plugs and oil like you did!

Yeah, I'm starting to become familiar with mine. I've had almost all the plastic off to install PC, remove flys and adjust headlights. I love how the frame is the airbox. Took me a little bit to figure out how to get to the air filter. I was looking on the right hand side of the bike. Yall noticed how loose some of the screws are that hold on the bodywork?

Will that hold up to all the torque our bikes lay down?

Sounds pretty pricey. Drop the new spark plugs from the list since they are just waste of money. The guarantee for the plugs used in the 14 covers 24 000 km/15 000 miles (at least on this side of the pond). I payed ca. $200 for the service and this is rather expensive business in my neighbourhood.

Good to check your screws on body work and anything else you can think of at least every 1000 miles. I lost two in my lower fairings the first week or so I had the bike. My KLR650 is even worse about losing screws with that big single cylinder. Put blue Lock-tite on all of your bolts for some extra piece of mind.

Damn!......For about $500 I would remove your flies, put on a mapped PC, 16 front gear, "locked in 6th" mod, and lube :-) .......then you would love the bike a lot more .....
You will save a lot of $ if you learn good basic tech stuff for your machines....

17/41 stock
16/43 great for street-fighting.......not as great for highway - but you can swap a rear gear in mins anyway.......

The dealership I purchased my red beauty from just informed me that the 15,000 mile service which includes a valve inspection/adjustment will cost me $900! Anybody else been quoted anywhere in
that ballpark??

I checked and reshimmed mine on my 01 zx6r. It was a pain in the ass, but very rewarding. It had the "shim under bucket" and I assume that the 14 is the same. I'm not sure if I will attempt the first one on the 14 yet.

If i remember right you had the oil seepage around the head area problem too? Has it stayed Fixed after the 2nd visit?
What all did you find loose when you did your exhaust? Sounds liek you might have got a friday bike.

I had the $$$7500$$$ mile service done at the dealership just for the warranty. Wow I'm being blasted for not changing my own oil and plugs. They aren't aren't a big deal to me (although I got stuck on a tank issue and called Smokin'!
This track bike project is consuming my time now anyway
