lemon zx14 theory
What do u guys think about this? I have a zx14, my buddy has a gsxr1000. I beat up on him on a regular basis. So my other buddy buys a zx14, they race each other 2night and the gsxr kills him every race. You think some 14s are pigs or what. I dont thinks its the rider bcuz the 14 holeshots him good then the gsxr comes around. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like rider error....not shifting at peak rpm and doing it smoothly. Some guys minds go blank under the pressure of a race, and just screw up.

1) get power commander with no flies map
2) remove flies
3) rear sprocket - up 1 tooth
4) front sprocket - down 1 tooth
let it be known that the bike is stock cuz it still kinda is. if you still cant win then you suck. i was very disappointed with my 14 until i did the mods listed above (except front sprocket). plenty of power, the zx14 is a very hearty bike.

Swap bikes with your buddy's ZX-14 and run the gixer... that way you'll know if it's rider or bike.

i can see the zx14 losing if it were BONE STOCK as it left the showroom floor. rider skill is probably the issue here.

Well i do think some zx14s may run better than others but not by much...I would say it the riders ...It doesn't take much of a slip up to let some other bike come around you....When my zx14 was stock i raced every gixxer , zx10 and busa i could find and beat them all...Not to say i'm the best rider out there but i was better than them that day and time .. Weight also plays a big part in racing ... 30 pounds can make a big difference in the out come ..We have all read about Busas and zx14s running 11s at the drag strip and it wasn't the bike falt...

Rick is his bike set up yours? Does he still have the flies in? Did he just get it and is still getting use to the bike? Its probably rider error as others have said.
BTW,
Those 1000's are serious bikes.

Push the ZX14 off a bridge, report it stolen, then get one that runs right.

Nelson, its shawn thats got the 14. Its all stock. The gixxer is also stock. Ive run the gixxer numerous times when my bike was stock. dragrace\highway roll test. Ive never lost 2 him. Somethings wierd here. Shawn has gained wieght but i would think the bike would pull a 1000 on top 4 sure(as the 14 holeshots the 1000 everytime then the 1000 takes over in like 3rd gear).Hes ordered all the same parts as mine but damn thought hed run better than that out of the box.

Why don't you ride the other 14 to see if its bike or rider?
If it's rider help your buddy.
If it's the bike it could be brakes scrubbing , a wheel bearing going out, or low tire pressure.
Little story.
I raced a buddy on a R1 with my 12,
We rolling along and I let him hit first because I have the big bike and he says
he can't lauch with me. He pulls 2-3 bikes before I start to pull back THEN
HE SHIFTS, back off gas, pull the clutch, shift, release clutch and gas it (LOL).
His shift was so slow that I actually got out the bike thinking something was wrong
before he gassed it in second. same thing in third and forth.
He was a decent street rider but never raced or speed shift.
The R1 rider is much better now.

Rick you need to get on the bike and see, If the results are the same with you on it.
If so, have him take it to the dealer, have them go over it before he mods it up too much,
its under warranty.
How much does he weigh now?
BTW, unless they've changed the rules for our Street Bike class. (sucks doesn't it)
We can't go under 9.50. Better slow it down buddy. (lol)
Better get dialed in, I'm ready to race.

1badzx12r got a lemon flavored ZX-14, really slow. I think he sold it down in Mexico!

sounds like spray to me........ you need to race the gixxer on your bike.....
