To the people who experience a shake of the bars after a wheely when the front wheel comes back down; strictly speaking it's not a speed wobble. That's just because the front wheel is not pointing in the right direction. Practise keeping the bars straight when you wheely.
The dreaded speed wobble is when out-of-balance forces build up and result in the bars oscillating from side to side. I only ever had it on an early GSX-R1100 coming back from the Isle Of Man one year, caused by a pair of throw-over panniers on the pillion seat. Couldn't go over 120 without the dreaded shake. That was a very light bike with a steep steering head angle, not designed for touring with luggage. The ZX-14 should not wobble.

I had an experience with a wobble. Some College kids passed me showing off in a convertible on 26 in Charleston SC. So, I stood it up on the highway and carried the front wheel for about 4 exits. (pretty far). Came down kind of crooked and started a rodeo. I just relaxed on her and she straightened up after shaking my brains out. I guess that was my fault cause I slowed to about 70 and went right back up! now she is stretched so no more wheelies but sometimes off the tree, she can get a little playful. Nothing major. Kids thought it was cool as hell! Scared the shit out of me though

"We have some long bridges and I've pinned the 14 as many times as I can count and never had a high speed wobble. I try not to wheelie but the front wheel goes up sometimes shifting gears and such and still no wobble." quote from steve

ditto, the most solid ride ever, 0-190 and 190-0 solid with no damper

running battleaxes with 40 pounds, suspension stiifened up for my size around 260

ya I'd be first in line for a damper if my 14 even "suggested" it was going to wobble at speed across our bridges. I'm surprised I haven't bumped into you around here yet. Hopefully we won't meet up in jail, watch out for the po po!

Just twist the throttle and be freeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

I just wonder why some bikes have them as factory and others don't? My only situation that seemed to warrant one was on the GSXR1K in a max lean on a hard right hander and just as I was powering out the rear tire hit an unseen pothole sending the rear tire airborne. When it came down things weren't pretty but I pulled it out. If the bike had not had the damper on it, I'm not sure that I would not have highsided. Given this scenario, I'm thinking the 14 could definitely benefit from a damper as well.....just wish they weren't so darn expensive!

Mine has some head shake but that's after launch and carrying the front wheel for about 80ft. Needs a dampner bad before I end up in the guardrail or on my ass.

I have hever had severe wobble on my zx-14, 02' gsxr 1000, or my GSXR 600 race bike. Infact the stock suzuki dampners where always great I thought! Even when road racing. That being said, who here has had and old ZX-7? You hav'nt exprianced a REAL tank slapper till you've HAD one on a ZX-7. Some of you guys know what I'm talking about! ZX-7's are scary!

I never thought I needed one on my zx12 either....I bought one for the 12 for 'piece of mind'

Bought one for the 14 because of an event. Any bike over 140mph had to have one. I actually sold my helibars and decided to leave the damper on----just in case.
