Brock's Gen3 installed, POSSIBLE PROBLEM?

Ok, I just finished installing the Gen3 but the bike was acting funny at first and I just want to make sure there are no major problems, so I thought I'd pick some of your brains. When I first started the bike there was a lot of smoke from the muffler and where the headers go into the engine. I think it may be from the silicone burning off initially, but I wanted to make sure. All of the smoke stopped after about 5 min. My wife said she also saw a blue flame come out of the muffler at one point. I revved the bike a little but hadn't warmed it up much, maybe another factor. Also, when I had the exhaust completely removed, I started the bike for a few seconds just to see what it would sound like, maybe 30 seconds. Finally, I couldn't get the left side headers to seat completely onto the flanges. I fought with them a while and was only able to get them on about half way. Does it sound like I have anything to worry about here?

EDIT: Couple of other notes... At the moment I have the powercommander.com flies out stock exhaust map loaded until I get the map from Brock. At one point I had one of the flanges on backwards and tightened it most of the way (don't think it hurt anything, but I dunno).

sounds ok to me . everything should fit take your time get the headers right and every thing else will fall in place. leave every thing loose and move it around a little until your sure. torque the bolts and check it again. run it a little and check your bolts again. make sure the headers are away from the plastic or you will be melting it. if you run the bike with out the headers on you could burn the valves. good luck

the smoke is normal from the assembly initially, the pipes will seat with the springs pulling them in and the motor running, flange backward won't hurt(did same thing on one), listen for exhaust leaks if none you are ok, mine sometimes pops on decel when the throttle is not closed all the way and yes a large flame comes out when the pop occurs it discourages tailgaters

Sounds like you should have left the job to a professional or at least someone that could have held your hand during the install.
you also didnt clean the exhaust properly before firing it up. (with a solvent like brake cleaner) Now you're gonna have oil stains/fingerprints all over your new stainless pipe....lol

What is with the fascination of firing up a bike without a header? Its gonna sound like ass so I guess now you know

Just wanted to know what it would sound like, ya. Don't see any real problem with stains. I'll clean it somehow or another if it needs it. Would have been nice to have someone hold my hand, but now I can say I did it myself, problems and all. Same reason I didn't take it to a professional, that and cost. You learn a lot making mistakes anyway, just have to make sure they're not expensive mistakes. Doesn't sound like I have any leaks.

Swft, sort of used a hammer, used a rubberized dumbell to try to get the header to seat all the way, but no luck. How can you work on a bike w/o a hammer??

Used the wrong map initially, not exactly my fault though. Used SMeg map instead of oval map. Performance seemed ok but mileage went to crap. Went from 39mpg indicated to 32mpg indicated. Still though, I can wheelie in 2nd gear now with 18t sprocket and haven't tried it with the correct map yet. I'm impressed.

Got the right maps installed now. I have to say, power seems just a bit less responsive than with the SMeg maps, but my indicated mileage is back. Jumped from around 32 hwy to around 39 hwy mpg. I can still wheelie in 2nd but it seems a little harder to wheelie from 50 mph to 65 mph than it was with the SMeg map. Need to try both maps some more just to see if it's my immagination.
