I don't know squat, but the owners manual says 15K miles. My bike has 12K now and the valve train sounds fine. Hi-miler is the only one I know of that has reached 15K and had the valves done. They only shimmed 2 or 3 if I remember correctly.

Book said check at 15000 ....And i would check them......The valve clearance doesn't get wider it gets tighter...If left unchecked it can burn a valve because of no clearance...Valve clearance can get lose if there is a problem with the valve train like a bad cam or broken spring.....So do as the book said and check your valve clearance...

The check is done every 26k miles on this side of the pond, so probably it's not that critical to follow the 15k program on this engine?

BlackMagic14,
I did mine at 15,000 miles. It was interesting the shop Manager (good friend of mine) rode the ZX with about 12,000 miles on her and had a real concerned look on his face because the valves were so loud (he does not perform any work on the bikes he is the manager). When the tech came out to take a listen he told me not to worry about it, the manual says 15,000 miles I'll see you in 3000 miles. I felt the tech almost wanted something to happen to the ZX. At any rate if your having concerns go get them checked. My opinion is same as the tech's enjoy the next 8,500 miles.
Navigator is correct on the adjustments.
Here is the paperwork

Been on Vacation I'll post pictures soon

26,000 mile? I was told that many countries still use leaded fuels (and or) different fuels than the US, and there are better people here who can explain why that makes a difference but it does. Provided my 14 continues to perform as well as it does today I will not get the valves done again until 50K. That whole break in thing I believe can throw things off. Now things should be settled in pretty good, time will tell.

The lead acts as a cushion/lube.............great for those old softer valve seats that we don't use anymore :-)

I didnt mean to be rude I just know that a lot of people dont know what they are talking about (like me) so i was just making a point. I had someone tell me on this board they swore to me that you didnt need to remap to take the secondaries out and we all know what good advice that is LOL
