I am copying this from another forum. I don't necessarily believe it, but it may answer your questions. Might get another argument started too.

Quote Johns:
Nice post with pics on removing the flys. I removed them last week and installed a custom map from Ivan (same guy that sells the TRE) for stock pipes. The difference is night and day with the proper mapping and the flys out. The Ivan map works flawlessly with stock pipes and no flys. I also installed Ivans TRE-006A which is intended to work spesifically with the no flys mod. I had been running a Ivans TRE-008, the flys stock, stock pipes and a power commander with a custom map. The TRE-008 and power commander provided a nice boost in low end power in the lower gears but the difference with the new mapping, the TRE-006 and flys removed is huge below 8000 RPM's in all gears.

Quote Nav:
If you removed the flies, why do you need a TRE? I thought the TRE locked in the 5th or 6th gear factory map to open the flies sooner. If you don't have any flies..............

Quote Johns:
That is definately true on the TRE-008 Navigator. The TRE-006 is new and is different than the 008. The 006A locks the ECU in the non emissions mode instead of the ECU 6th gear map and eliminates the backfiring on trailing or closed throttle that a lot of guys complained about when they went to headers. I never heard any backfiring with the TRE-008 since I am still running stock pipes and have already blocked the EGR system off. The 006 is supposed to also improve the response during throttle transitions. The digital gear indicator now shows N all the time instead of a 6 as with the 008. The neutral light works normally and the shift light works normally. The launch light does not work with the TRE-006A (same as with the TRE-008). There are no wiring changes when switching from the 008 to the 006A. Simply disconnect the ground wire on the 008, unplug it and plug in the 006A.

Four things about the above post.

1. I do not support or recommend Ivan or his products.
2. I do support and heartily recommend Brocks Performance Products.
3. There are some who want a flies out map with stock canisters. (not my place to judge)
4. If this helps with decel pops I want to know about it.

dont waste your money on ivans products, the TRE has already been discussed very thoroughly.

It is true that the TRE006a eliminates the decel pops. It supposedly cuts the fuel and eliminates it. I originally installed a TRE008. Then later, I removed the flys and added a PC. At some point after that, I installed an exhaust system and loaded Ivan's map. I had decel pops. I was concerned about the decel pops reducing the lifespan of the can. So, I pulled the TRE008 and installed the TRE006 and the decel pop stopped! I do not have the block-off plates installed, the clean air system is still in place. I was surprised as to how well it stopped the popping!

I bought one of Bill's powercommanders with his map and couldn't be happier. This is the best $320 I have spent on a sport bike to date and I have had alot of them.

I wanted to know this same thing. I have been racing with flies out, stock pipes, no pc, and having no problems. Bike would probably go faster with a good map. I dont get any decel popping either.

I never got a pop with the stock exhaust system either.

The pop is a small price to pay for the increased performance that was IMMEDIATELY felt after installing the Brock's and mapped PCIII.

Between the weight I lost, bike's heat reduction, and overwhelming acceleration gain from 4-5K rpm and up, the decel pop doesn't even factor.

Same here, no flys, stock pipes no PC. runs fine. Very very slight ping rolling from a dead stop in first or second that wasn't there before. I was running 89 octane with no problems with the flys in and had to go immediately to 91 octane after taking them out. No heating issues just more power down low. I will be getting a Brock Smeg and PCIII package hopefully for xmas to adress the possible low end lean condition.
