To create a URL link, you need to put the tags around the URL:

[ url ]www.yourURLhere.com[ /url ]

Just remove the spaces in the tags to make it work.

The engine sprocket cover has a speed sensor attached to it, I think that it picks it off of the sprocket nut. So, if you change your gearing, it throws off the speedo calibration. I hope this was what you were asking?

I thought it was just me when my speedo was closer to being accurate when comparing to my gps after putting a 190/55 on .
My speedo was 10mph off stock , but now it's about 5 mph off .
It would be a similar effect like a sprocket change in that case effecting the speedo.

I wonder how hard it would be to re-fit the speedo sensor to sense something driven off the front wheel. No more problems when re-gearing.

.........Or even off the rear wheel, it would be possible but you'd still have a problem with calibration. The wheels rotate 0.415 times with every revolution of the gearbox output shaft on standard gearing, so you would still need something like a speedo healer to re-calibrate. It would be easier to just use the SH on it's own.

True, but I think what he means is you would not have to change the settings every time you change a sprocket. I don't know how helpful that would really be since most people only change sprockets once or twice.

You should also be aware that running the speedo off of the tire may cause problems with the gear indicator. On the other hand, it may get around the problems with the gear indicator. I think you would have to set the speedohealer to +240% for that to work, but that assumes the same amount of ticks per revolution as the sprocket, which may not be the case. I don't think it's even possible to set the speedohealer to +240%.
