Crazy color scheme

I was thinking about doing a crazy color scheme on the 14. I was gonna put the blue Puig screen, blue Corbin seat and blue rims on my red 14. I know it's a bit tacky, but I thought it would give off a bit of a "Captain America" vibe. A lot of sport bikes have loud paint schemes anyway. I think I've already chickened out of the whole thing but I wanted to see what feedback you guys would have. I'm going to try to photoshop a pic and see how it looks. I'll post it after I do.

EDIT:

Here's what I was thinking of:

Here's one with just the seat and screen blue, I think I kinda like this one better:

Here's what I was originally thinking, with just the red seat and shield:

____________
Concourse14- Corbin Seat, Candy Apple Red Paint, Area P Slip-On
RIP+ZX-14- Brock's Gen3, Heli Risers, Corbin Bags, Corbin Seat and Oval Backrest (Burgandy Snakeskin and black alligator), Muzzys Frame Sliders, flies out, 18t front sprocket, PC3, Puig Double Bubble, Pirelli Diablo Strada's
KX450F - kickstand

You asked for feedback, so here it is: I personally don't like any of the pics. I prefer the standard paint scheme with either polish style or just black wheels. Colored seats don't work for me either. If you're gonna do something, why not paint the lowers to look like the 07...polish, chrome or paint the wheels black. Less is more...good luck!

I agree, less is more. I think the color clash is too much.

Just my 2.37 cents(adjusted for inflation)

Now all blue, that's a nice color.

Painting the lowers just doesn't do anything for me, yawn. The black looks fine. Polished rims would be cool. I'm almost definitely gonna get the seat red on top. The screen I'm not sure, either red or smoke, can't decide.

I agree with not going to mutlicolors especially blue and red unless its a complete custom paint job. Do what makes you happy though.

Suggestions if your taking them would be: Keep it simple.
Polish wheel lips paint center same color as the bike. or Black wheels with Red pinstripe
Smoke windscreen,
Doing the seat is fine as long as it flows with the scheme, color, and lines of the bike.

Good Luck.

I wouldn't take offense to anyone's opinion since I asked for it, short of out and out insults that is. Normally I do my own thing and don't care what other people thing but in this case I wasn't really that someone wouldn't like it, but that no one would like it.

"If someone calls you a moron, they have a problem, if everyone calls you a moron, you have a problem."

I like the red screen, but I think I might go with the smoke screen, just to give more contrast, same reason I want black sides on the seat. I don't want a monocolor bike or anything resembling one.

The red pinstripe on the wheel would be a nice touch. I could probably do that myself with mimimal effort. Just tape them off and spray the stripe when I change my tires. If I don't like it I could have them polished later.

Now that Busa is a sweet Captain America bike. Out of my price range for now, but maybe in a couple years. That has to be at least a $5,000 paint job, not to mention the chrome. Problem is, how do you get away from the cops on a bike like that. "No officer, it was another guy on a Captain America" bike doing 190, I swear.

phytrax- a red or dark smoke puig double bubble screen would look good on a red bike. you should definetly do something about the brown-gold look. polish the wheels and lower forks yourself, and then have them powder coated in semi-translucent red or black for a an inexpensive candy chrome effect... or just have them powder coated black and maybe polish the lip. im personally staying away from chrome on the 14. ive actually got my eye on a powder coat oven at harbor freight but im not sure if its large enough to accomodate a wheel. your zx-14 is still bone stock, as ridden off the showroom floor correct?

Yeah, it's bone stock right now other than some comfort mods, but I have a full Gen3 and PC3 coming. I'm also going to pull the flies when that stuff comes in.

Where do yo go to get something powder coated like that? I know some bodyshops that could paint the wheels but I don't know about powder coating. A transparent red would be nice though. I don't care for the brown wheels either, but I was just thinking adding the pinstripes as a cheap temporary fix for now.

You do you need a powder coat oven?? Just use the one in your kitchen. I really don't think there's anything special about a powder coat oven.

do a google search for powder coating shops in your area. im thinking about black candy chrome wheels, lower forks, and maybe case covers and calipers. powder is available in many different colors and its not delicate like chrome or paint. double bubble puig windscreen in dark smoke or red would be appropriate for your application. you could even powder coat that exhaust, or ceramic coat which is more desirable. i would buy slip-ons (tiforce) for or try finding a full dual exhaust, it would look best with both of those corbin bags, i like the symetry of dual pipes, and your bags are designed around the cans. before you buy that exhaust you should call bill (zx1kr) and get a power commander from him loaded with a no-flies map for stock exhaust and youll probably be happy. if you need a little more, then get a black anodized vortex rear sprocket - it is aluminum but the black coating makes it a bit tougher.

dude i dont think it would be cool to powder coat things in the kitchen oven, especially if you plan on cooking food in it afterward. a powder coater is an oven which "cures" the coat with heat. a friend of mine took a toaster oven and was able to coat some stuff even though it turned out like shit. i will buy that powder coating oven from harborfreight if it is big enough to hold a wheel, which i havent looked into yet. internal dimensions are 18x18x18, heats up to almost 500F. from what ive gathered reading your posts, i think you should seriously consider picking up a power commander from bill with a no flies map and see how you like it, with the possible addition of slight gearing changes. i would keep the dual exhaust youve already got, or wait for a true full dual exhaust system to hit the united states market, ive only seen them available in japan.

Well, the Gen3 from Brock's is a done deal. I've already shipped Brock one of my Corbin bags so he could fit the Gen3 to it, since the standard Gen3 seems a bit too high at the tip. I would also have liked to have kept the symmetry of a dual exhaust, but in this case I prefer the extra hp and weight loss of the Gen3. A full dual is going to be expensive, also, and I'm not looking to spend any more money than necessary. I'm getting the power commander from Brock also, with no flies maps for the Gen3.

I'm also getting a sprocket from him, but I'm gearing up instead of down. I want performance, but rideability and comfort are almost as important to me. I figure the 18T front sprocket will cure my speedo error (mostly) and will make the bike a bit less jumpy with the flies out. I should still be able to roll up the front wheel while I'm laying over the tank, and that's good enough for me.

Ceramic coated exhaust looks nice, but not enough bling for the $$$ IMO. I know I blew a wad of cash on the Corbin bags, but I still feel like those are the best mod I'll ever make to the bike. You sure your buddy's power coating quality wasn't due to his application, as opposed to the oven? I don't know if it's at all like spray painting a car, but if it is, the skill of the person applying the coating is VERY, VERY important. Thanks for the wiki ling, I looked on wikihow.com and couldn't find anything.

I'm going to go with the regular smoke on the windscreen, I would like to be able to see through it, especially since the race version will cover my field of view when laying on the tank.

Um......
Just kidding

Not really my style but, i do kinda like the the red windscreen and the seat , though i think maybe a dark red for the windscreen and a maroon for the seat like you said before would be cool.

Now if i were to do anything with mine it would be wheels, if not aftermarket then something like these would float my boat:

Nice wheels. A bit on the orange side, but may be just the lighting. The seat will be a somewhat dark, burgundy snake skin on top. I may even buy a red AND a smoke colored windscreen. I'll see how I like the smoke then think about it. I may not like the double bubble screen anyway depending on how it feels on the highway.

Yep, got one on my KLR650, pretty cool looking, with black alligator skin on the sides. It's all leather, just textured. Check out corbin.com

Many people many thoughts. I can't imagine schemes for shit, so here's a photo of polish/painted rims. Hint, use a lighter shade, more vibrant colour for the wheels to allow for road shit and grease etc. I reckon the red polish / paint rims would look mint with the red screen
