I have had conversations with guys that really believe they are not reckless and obey the law all of the time. And these are bikers. Well, I asked, "so you mean that you go 35 or lower on local roads and no more than 55 on the interstate?" Yeah, right. They think that other riders give a bad name but the truth is that we all contribut to the public's perception on some day or other in some way or another. Here, I tried doing the speed limit, 55mph on the interstate in a car and people were passing me like I was riding a bicycle. I actually thought going that slow was dangerous and wouldn't even attempt it on a bike.
The thing that upsets me is that too many times the public has the perspective that it is all bikers that ride like that video but it really isn't. The fact is that cars do the same thing. Sure, perhaps not on those roads for lack of the vehicles ability, but they do it too. The thing I try to do is limit risks. I don't drive fast on roads that I am unfamiliar with and I try to keep the ride in perspective when I am. The story was a good one and seemed to be fair. It was a good reminder of the dice we sometimes roll when we are out there and did a good job of showing how we agitate and scare others sometimes. Hmmm...........interesting. Will you be able to load Part 2?
