16/42 sprocket installed

well finally took a day off and had local shop install 16/42 sprocket that ZX1Kr got for me( thanks ZX1Kr) took the bike for a little ride. wow
tried first and second gear, big difference. i really need to get use to throttle, it is a monster.
i did not get any wheel spin in either gears .
speed error is about 8 to 10 miles vs. stock.
the only negative i say is couple of scrtaches on bike from local shop. one on the wheel, one on swing arm one on cover of the frame to remove the front sprocket. and they never admit to it. well next time going to the shop we both are going to inspect the bike before they start doing any work. :d

shawnski, who are you using to do your work? I won't let either of the shops here on the South side of Houston touch my bike. Bad experiences with both.

Maybe that's my problem. I've been trying to use the Kawasaki dealer network and their 16 yr. old trainees can't seem to get things right.

I'm coming up on valve service time and I just really don't want to do that myself.

I can do 1960 area but that's like 45 miles one way if I have to leave it. Maybe they will take an appointment and I can hang out with the Hooters girls while they do the work.

As Dubious well knows being a fellow Albertan, any decent mechanic is working in the oil patch making big dollars, the rest of the decent mechanics are probably working in automotive, it is the extremely rare gifted mechanic that actually works at any bike dealership these days....................if you can find one you are lucky. Any good bike mechanic could make far more dollars as a heavy duty mechanic

What passes as a 'mechanic' in most dealerships are kids that happen to like motorcycles.

You really need to buy a manual, maybe a few special tools and do your own maintenance. The first time you do a valve check may take you a day, but you know it is done right. If you can read, you can do the job.

Someone that is working on a 'flat rate' system is more concerned with how fast they can do the service work on your bike versus how well the work is done!

No one is going to take the care that you will working on your bike

I have worked on $100K+ cars and it requires a lot of attention at all times.............and most techs just don't - esp "cheaper" jobs.

$100K+ Custom Ford truck ................super nice show winner!

i do oil change, tighten up chain and minor other maintenance myself.

not yet, i am thinking about it. let me ride for a while and see if it would bug the hell of me or not! good thing is speed shows more than what it actually is, so you always can go faster to catch up

i will let you know if i need one soon. thanks for quick service and shipment of sprockets.

Problem is that if you do Hi speed runs the speed limiter will be shutting you down around 160mph. The speedohealer will eliminate the top speed limiter & allow you to not get dusted by the local zx10 or Gixxer 1K on the top speed.
Call me if you want one, I've got'em on the wall & I'll walk you through the set-up.
