Girlee rides the 14
Yup... she did. My wife (Girlee) and I went out for a ride today and she said wanted to ride the 14. So with some fear in my heart, and the knowledge that her health and life ins. premiums were paid.... I switched bikes with her.
Sooo... She did fine. I was riding her 650 and doing about 100 and she pulls up next to me and I motion for her to nail it. She said she saw over 150 on the speedo and she wanted to know what the little orange light was for??
Now she wants a ZX 10. I'm doomed

I think a "girlie" rider would be safer on a 14 than on a 10 if you leave the flies in. My GSXR1000 seems a lot more "eager" to throw off the rider or passenger with an accidental throttle blip. The 14 is very tame until you get the rpm's up. My brother, who has many years experience on cruisers, almost fell off the Gixxer when shifting into 2nd. The extra weight might be a problem for a girle, compared to a liter bike, but it shouldn't be a problem if she's experienced.

Gonna get my wife a scooter. She has trouble on a bicycle but I got a good life insurance policy on her. I just told her if she's gonna wreck make sure she does it right and don't half-ass it. I don't need a crippled chick.
I explained to her that I won't be afraid to pull the plug if she's suffering, anything more serious than a scraped knee and I'm gonna just let her move on the to big drag strip in the sky, LOL.

Currently I have the SV650s '02 - I fell for the 10 at the Femmoto. While I can't say I am a fantastic rider I have a had an excellent teacher and have moved my way up the chain so to speak starting with a dirt bike, the EX500 now the SV. I have thought about the power on the liter bikes and honeslty don't really need it at this point but do we ever? I do like the way the 10 sits and handles, the 636 is really fun but not comfortable for long. The 14 is a very easy bike to ride and it dosen't do anything silly but is way more than I need and honestly a big bike with a decent price tag. I don't tend to do too much in the way throttle overkill or ride over my head.
At Femmoto I was able to ride the Ducati monster 800, the Ducati Super Sport, The RSV Fac 4 Aprilla, A Motoguzi , The Buell Lighting Bolt 1200, The ZZR600, The Z? 650, The 636, (3 times ) and the ZX10 (twice). We hope that Honda and Suzuki show next year.
Of these bikes I did not like the Super sport or the RSV. I am only 5'2 myself and can't touch the ground on any of them really - you get used to it Those 2 bikes had a higher center of gravity, tighter suspension and for the lack of a better term - I felt stretched out over the rack
But in a perfect world ~ I would keep the SV650 and get the 636 for track and twisties , The Monster for a good fun all around bike and the ZX10 for riding with Gene on the 14. But since I have not hit the lottery. I have the SV to convert to track and a used 10 would be better on the pocket book than a new Ducati and better for trips than the 636.
Just my thoughts.....
By the way I have excellent health and life

It would be nice if my wife rode - but heck, I can't even get her on the back for more than a few moments. Oh well, she doesn't know what she's missing.

Great attitude you have there, girlee. I wish my wife had similar thoughts and feelings toward motorcycles. She is totally comfortable on her Triumph Bonneville and won't even consider riding a sport bike or going to the track.
Although I am lucky in the fact that she didn't argue when I bought our 3 yr. old son a Honda 50 with training wheels last year. He is 4 now and I may show him how to shift into 2nd gear this coming summer. I'll have a track buddy soon enough.
You should take a test ride on the Daytona 675 before you buy that ZX-10.

Girlee, I'm still not clear why you're choosing the 10 over the 14. The 14 is more bike than you need maybe but it's about the same price as the 10 and to me it's a lot easier to drive and a lot more comfortable. I'm 6'1" so maybe that's why. Is the the 14 less comfortable to you? too heavy? Just curious. Personally, I had to have the 14 because it's the fastest thing I could put hard bags AND ride for more than 1 hr.
