Good helmet audio system?

I've done some Google searches and can't find enough info on headsets for helmets. I'd like to be able to talk to my passenger first of all. I'd also like to be able to connect to my cellphone with bluetooth, and maybe a GPS and MP3 player. If I have to be wired to the bike, I guess that's ok but I'd prefer wireless. Can some of you suggest some systems and give me some pros and cons for each one? Also, will I have to mount a "controller" system on the bike to connect everything?

Hi all. I'm very new to this forum ... which I find very informative and helpful., theus giving me the reason to join up. As for a headset, I'm currently using the Nolan N-Com Bluetooth both for my phone and Ipod. It's crisp, clear and easy to operate. Downside is that it's specifically made for their helmets (flip-face) and the helmet is a bit heavy. Looks nice though with the dual visors.

Have a look at it - www. nolan.it

How could pushing a button be easier than just speaking?? The vox on my AutoCom works at 150mph I know for sure. I tested it to that fast many times. From all reports from people I know with the chat box thay all say the Vox is worthless at anything past walking speed. I know alot of guys with ChatBox and it does work with PTT, BUT look at all the stuff the guy that posted this thread wants to do.. I have all that stuff hooked to my AutoCom and it all works. I'm not sure the ChatBox can pull that off and if so how does it connect to something that's hanging on the side of your helmet? It's all good either way. I have a cord running to my head and you guys have a box hanging off you helmet. Until bluetooth finds it's way to all these devices they're all a trade at best

Mine works fine vox, that's how we use them all the time. Talk at 80mph on the interstate all the time. cheaper chatter boxes are junk. we have the gmsxr1 I think thats right without looking. I use my ipod with it just fine as well.

If you can get the GMRSX-1 to VOX properly I'll tip my hat to you and buy a hooker to come take care of you at your house if you'll teach me what you did.

The PTT works great, but I gave up on the VOX after hours of frustration and noise.

It serves it's purpose for me because I only use it for protection from tickets, and in that avenue it has saved my ass when riding in groups at speed before.

Last thing I want to hear is somebody jabbering for four hours about the wife not putting out enough during a ride.

Here is the ironic thing. My GMRSX-1 has been saturated to the point that when I pulled the battery cover off, at least a tablespoon of water came out, and it's hit the pavement at 40 mph when I went down two years ago and the thing still works.

No shit.

Wasn't that about a buck forty you whiped out Blitz You must of had a typo up there.. Hell only Fish stix falls over in parking lots

Let me recall that fateful day the way I can best remember

Yea it was one hell of a crash.............In the middle of a 150MPH sweeper Blitz with his knee down and the engine seized on Blitz!!!!!! He rode it out and never lost control until the tire exploded!! Yea that's right exploded!! He still held her in his own lane until some school kids were crossing in front of him.. Faced with concern for those kids or his own safety he tossed the A1 to the ground and positioned his body between the 12 and the ground to save the 12 from damage!! Most men wouldn't be here today or worse yet those kids may have been injured, BUT not Blitz he saved those kids and protected the 12 from serious damage! He got a few minor scrapes and mabe a sprained ankle.

Wasn't that how it happened Blitz

Yep.

It hurt.

Four broken ribs, punctured lung, broken collarbone.

I don't EVER want to feel that pain again (the ribs) and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

nope, he's not the only one.

I made the mistake of buying the chatterbox(frs multisport) for me and my wife....I SWEAR chatterbox uses the SAME technology as the folks that make the toys for kids meal. Except the toys aren't as cheap. What crap. No way that cheap ass pos was getting mounted to my shoei. I have rode with guys that have the more expensive chatterboxes---hard to believe they are made by the same company---they are also very happy with them.

OK fuck it I give up.........Geeez can't even get these guys back..... Blitz crashed at 40 so he says and I believe him. L2M.............Fell over in the garage AND Fish Stix needs Fly Paper on his gas tank to not fall off in Parking lots at LESS than 40MPH..... ARE you guys happy now? Next you're going to be telling me Elvis is dead.. Silly fuckers

God only knows what's going to become of this outfit when Johny Ringo takes over

As stated above there are many decent systems. However i find that the speakers/earphones that come with them are just shite.
Check out the thread about the UM02s..
I use these every single day and they are awesome.
No background noise (at all) whether plugged into my Ipod or a communication system.

I just hooked up the JR Integratr IV with the Elite headset - I've only used it for phone, music and "other" - but not ICS - but what I have done thus far is awesome. Great sound, people can hear me talk and vice versa on my phone (tried at 70mph - and works great). For the entire system it was fairly expensive. I paid $700 for the Integratr IV, the Elite Headset, lithium battery/charger, Adaptors, etc... - I went with JR vice Autocomm (it was a toss-up).

Blitz, We did not do any tricks to get are's to work, I've heard tons of negitive comments on chatterboxs which I beleive, but ours has always worked great. And about those broken ribs, I shattered 7 and punctured my lung two years ago when a car pulled out in front of me, I've had a lot of broken bones over the years but never the pain I felt from the ribs.

Got a link for the system?

The best I was able to find the "Entire" package was at Clay in Texas: The web site is:
http://www.claysradioshop.com/jm_products_cb.htm
But, I just saw that on the the JMCorp website:
http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=29
The unit itself is 169.99 (on sale) - so, get the unit from JM, and then get the rest of the stuff from Clay's. When I gought the system, I paid about $60 dollars more total - oh well.

I appreciate those who posted helpful information here.

I've been doing a pretty in-depth comparison of the J&R Integratr IV, Autocom Pro, & StarCom1. I'm currently emailing sales at the different companies trying to get their take on the differences and will be happy to post my findings here when I'm done.
