i had been planning on mounting a small eye in the front by the intake so i could record some riding... i think a rear view camera would be retarded- why would you want to put tvs on a bike?

uhmmmmm my friend put two on his because he rides no mirrors. Before the rain got him the TVs worked well. Must be tough not to be open-minded and consider someone else's set-up "retarded"

Herbert Spencer said:

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance -- that principle is contempt prior to investigation."

My thoughts exactly...but I guess to each his own...personally, I'd be scared to watch TV while riding, but that's just me

i am going to bite my tongue on this thread, but if you feel that you need tvs on your streetbike then perhaps you should not own one at all. my zx-12 has no mirrors, and the 14 will be mirrorless too. objects which are behind me do not matter.

From the movie Gumball Rally -- 1976: "Whatsa behind-a-me its-a not important" as he rips off his rearview mirror... Think it was Raul Julia that said it...

i was without mirrors on my 12( because they are the most unique piece of crap mirrors ive ever seen ,this side of a space shuttle)......I like my mirrors on my 14 ,and it only takes one close call at a stoplite at 2am ,when you hear a horrible screetch behide you ,only to notice someone was not even paying attention...scares u into thinking those mirrors are nice....lol

I do not think you think is right.
Because it is very risky advice. Motor can not compare with the car, motorcycle rear view camera installed above you is like wearing a bathrobe in the bathroom.

So for the folks that don't have mirrors and/or rear cameras, how do you switch lanes in heavy traffic(rush hour)? Let me guess, rotate your head 180 degrees(while taking your eyes off the car in front that may stop immediately!) to check for clearance. That sound MUCH safer than rear cameras....not(IMHO)!

+1 on mirrors. Setting at Rail Road Crossing I could not hear a auto that was slamming on her brakes..........talking on cell.......as Luck would have it I glanced in my mirrors and saw her skidding her tires (rears were smoking) coming right at me. I gaaased it as I was the second person in line waiting on the train to pass.........I shot inbetween the cars to my right and she slammed in to the truck in front of me. Luck was with all concerned noone was hurt. Just think if I had NO mirrors or I did not look at what was behind me??????????
She still had the cell in her hand after she tapped the truck...she was going about 10 MPH by then.so not a Big crash.but a10 MPH hit on a motorcycle setting.....ummmmmmmmmm

I was looking at the camera's for their intended use, to hook up my toy hauler. I've talked to several folks and they say the picture quality is terrible even for backing the truck up........I'm talking about the cheap ones.

That being said, no way would I have a camera on my bike to "see" with it for the reasons stated above.

Just keep the mirrors. Riding without mirrors is dangerous. I put it right up there with riding without a helmet.

You must have never been rear ended at a stoplight then. I suppose you don't believe in riding gear or a helmut either. Brilliant.

I think bikes look damn good without mirrors But it is dangerous, I stopped riding without mirrors after I made a right turn on an intersection and proceeded to go thru the gears rather quickly when after about two miles down the street I herd sirens behind me.... If I woulda had mirrors I woulda seen that state trooper turn in behind a couple cars behind me  in that intersection that was an unnecessary traffic ticket lol

That was a close one Lab..........I've heard of these situations, but always stop to one side or the other of a car for just such an occasion..........riders always need to leave themselves an "out" to get away from a potential smashing........there isn't a higher definition camera than a piece of mirrored glass to look into.
