2006 Mods Complete & Thanks Expressed
Given any luck I still have about 1 month of sporadic riding left here in CT. The days that I can take off after work, do a 100 miles or so of stress relief on the 14, and get home before dark are done with for the year. I had to check out the Fall colors today so I took off on a ride this morning and it was a crisp 45 degrees. Enjoyable ride, but a little on the cool side. So, as riding season comes to a close for me, so have my modifications for this year. As you can see in the pic, the bike still looks fairly stock, but it rides a lot better. I'm a street rider, not a drag racer, so the mods are oriented as such. Following the pictures I've expressed my thanks to Bikeland, its members, and some of the aftermarket companies that have contributed to the improved 14 that I've been riding.
SPECIAL THANKS TO:
BIKELAND.ORG, fish, frEEk, and all the others who run this most excellent of web sites. Last January I was wondering whether I would be the owner of a new Busa, R1, GSXR-1000, or ZX-14. Then in March along comes Bikeland's review of the 14 http://www.bikeland.org/misc/articles/zx14review.pdf and the decision was made. The day after reading the article I had an order in for a red ZX14. Hindsight says it was the right decision and I have had no regrets whatsoever. Absolutely one of, if not the best bike that I have ever owned. Had to wait till June for the bike to come in but its been one hell of ride this year! Every ride ends with a big smile. Bikeland's ZX14.com and its membership have given me some great ideas. Kudos to everyone associated with this site!!
BROCK DAVIDSON: Got the StreetSmart Gen III, PCIII USB, and maps from Brock. Excellent fit and finish. Noticable improvement in power. 30 lbm weight reduction relative to stock system. Improved access for chain maintainance. Flawless map. The best customer service in the motorcycle aftermarket I've ever experienced. Great look. Up to this point I had always been a Micron fan. I'm extremely satisfied with Brock's product and his customer service. So Brock, thanks for the exhaust, the map, the customer service, and for being timely in getting the exhaust and PC map to the 14 owners.
BROCK, BIKELAND, AND FASTESTBUSAAROUND: FBA, thanks for arguing adinfinitum for the flies out mod. Brock and Bikeland, thanks for the informative and unbiased report on the Flies Vs. TRE controversy http://www.bikeland.org/misc/articles/tretest.pdf. I've run the TRE and the flies out. Flies out is definitly better. Brock, thanks for the flies out street map.
MUZZY: Thanks for keeping your word on the frame sliders and selling them to me for the $99 price. I think they're the best looking sliders out there.
GTRACING, VEGASDUDE, ZERMATT, FBA, AND MANY OTHER BOARD MEMBERS: GTRACING you da one that got my attention focused on Brock's exhaust. Thanks for posting the pics. VEGASDUDE, you also posted pics of the exhaust. ZERMATT, you got me focused on the Pit Bull Forward Handle Rear Stand which makes lifting the bike a piece of cake. FBA, as noted previously, for your unwavering opinion (which is now fact) on the benefits of fly removal.
Really need to express thanks to 99% of those who have contributed their thoughts and ideas to ZX14.com and made it the great site that it is. Thanks to all of you. Over the winter I'll be eliminating the rear fender, adding a taillight integrator, and hopefully finding a hugger and a smoked windscreen that I like. For all you lucky ones who get to ride all season, keep the rubber on the ground and enjoy the 14. Come mid-November I'll be jealous.

Oh crap, with the exception of the CF tank protector (mine's 3M) and ceramic coated pipe we are gonna have twin bikes! I too have all the above to thank but with the addition of Navigator, who's pictures of the ceramic coated Gen3 pushed me over the edge and had me ordering one.

Yeah, I like the ceramic coated mid-pipe. I'm thinking of doing that myself. Forgot to mention it.

I like the look of polished wheels but not planning on doing it to mine. Will stick with the sickly brown look. I actually outta put some thought into this but for some reason I never have.
