Maintenance issue - Fuekd Filter? Hi everyone, just some interesting info. I went to the $tealer to order a fuel filter. Initially he couldn't find it on the microfische, but later confirmed that the 14's filter is incorporated into the pump and is never replaced. Can anyone please confirm this, assuming this is true, nothing lasts forever, how do you replace it and how often? I can see KHI replacing the pump when the filter is dirty. The set-up doesn't make sense to me unloess I'm missing the boat. Any exploded manual pictures will also be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I couldn't find anything there either. Am I missing something here or is this a stupid question? Does the ZX 12/10/6 have an inline filter? Or is this standard practice?
Any feedback appreciated.

Ok, let me ask this another way. Has anyone had a fuel pumþor injecter blocked by debries as a direct result of not having an inline fuel filter. Do any of the other manufacturers have inline fuel filters? Thabks in advance

All modern fuel injected motorcycles have fuel filters integrated into the fuel pump assemblies. If, by referring to a filter which is placed inline between the injectors and the fuel pump, I know of no modern motorcycle with that arrangement. In racing, the biggest killer is racing fuels and their effects on the fuel pump.

Thanks swft, so you can't replace/clean this filter on the 14 without replacing the pump?

There ya go. I wasn't saying that it wasn't replaceable. I was saying there isn't a seperate inline filter. I know there is no seperate part number for a fuel filter.
Did you get something in the tank?

Did anyone else find a white shop cloth under their fuel tank shaped with tape to fit the fuel pump?

swft is right. Don't ask. I dropped something in the tank, pulled the pump, and "she havee no filter" I can see.
When you buy the filter, buy a quick connect that goes between the tank and the filter.
When you buy the filter, find the smallest filter available. You have very little room in that area. The addition of the filter adds to the line's length which may kink the line, or the fittings.
chez, that rag is an accessory item that you did not purchase with your bike. Please either send payment or return the rag to the factory.

Thanks guys, just don't feel comfotable knowing that there is no filtering of solids before the injectors. Will start shopping for a pressurised fuel filter asap. Just for interest, does this go the same for all manufacturers? (No filtering of fuel)
