Clutch change/clutch still slipping

Hey guys i need some advice. I did a few mods to my bike today a new shinko ultra soft, a 16 tooth front sprocket along with a 43 tooth rear. I also change a dieng clutch. however my clutch still slips. Now i am not going to lie i took the cheap way out i replced all the fiber and not any of the steels. Could this be my problem. I mean i took a little sandpaper and and scuffeed up the little burned spots on the steel plates. what do ou guys think i really want to see how the 14 repsonds to the 16/43 gearing. though fo r now i have to wait. I think i am going to start with all new steels if my dealer has then tomorroe. any other suggestion, i tell you fo r what i was able to feel 16/43 is a monster gearing. Oh yeah for the record i love this hydraulic clutch. It is way easier and faster to change a clutch on the 14 than the 12

Did you change the springs? You know that they get hot also and can lose holding power.. Smokin..

I also change a dieng clutch What is this word "dieng"??? You are in College so this should be good

What kind of Oil are you using??

I "Check" the wear on the fiber and lay the Steel on a flat surface like Glass to see if warped if no blue spots but usually I replace the Steels and not the Fibers

should have never sanded the steels, been there and made that mistake...just check them for warpage, and put clutch stack together and measure to see clutch stack height out on the bench ,see if it is within specs, before installing

Smokin i did not replace the springs. ANd big D i did not bleed the clutch master. Did not think i had to since i never opened the line. This is my first experience with the hydraulic clutch set -up. Would it be best to just order new steels and go with them.

I have no idea why you would have to bleed the system either , i have never had to do that to mine... I would order steels and fibers and some HD springs from >http://www.schnitzracing.com/ I have the springs from him and i'm going to order the clutch too ...Smokin.. Opps you allready have the new fibers so you just need the steels ...I guess check with your Kawi dealer for the steels ... Smokin..

I was not kidding! I do not know what this word is and it is important in the sentence "dieng" to understand

I have put 3 clutchs in my bike and never had to bleed the line. The steels sre probaly warped and need replaced too. The last clutch I put in I went cheap and just did steels, but so far it's held. I also set my clutch up alot different than stock. I have used the same springs but I just shimmed them up with washers and everythings been good so far....(200 pass's). The last set of steels i destroyed i had to pry them out of the basket they got so warped........

Hey guys i solved the problem. I took the clutch back out an observed the steels using the Vincent Hill method of placinng all the steels on a sheet of glass to see if they were warped. They were not so what i did was make sure that when putting them back in i made sure that i had them all facing the same way. Also i took the last clucth plate and put that one on slightly turned one notch. If you remeber the original cluthc in the before the billet basket the last cluthc plate on the basket fitted slightly different from the rest of the plates. THough once you put the billet basket in the 12 the all fitted in the same slotts. I orignally did this with the 14. I think this is why it was slipping. I now have put the last clutch plate in a different notch on the basket and it works like a charm.

Also i am loving the 16/43 gearing of the 14. It really rocks!!! Thanks for all the help and advice for my clutch problems that i was having. this is why i love this board. And Mr. Hill I is a college student. My english is not that good that is why i am in engineering. I only have to deal with numbers.LOL

NIghtmare i can even begin to say what i ahve learned from this forum or what was my favorite and the only reason i have changed the zx-14.org. I remeber It was a year brefore i made my first post on the org. Was scared that i was going to look stupid. At the time the zx-12 was brand new and i realized many people were having the same problems that i was having and were solving the on the board. Man i tell you i think we should renai, this forum Meetingoftheminds.com. There are truly some smart and caring people out there

It was the just that I have never seen or heard that word before and if it was mispelled I had no idea of the Real word. Remember I have about 30+ years on you and young people speak a new language! Yes always put "ALL" of the steels in the same way, There are 2 schools of thought.

#1 put in the rounded side of the stampings facing the inside of the Basket! That way there is no possibility of a hang up when the clutch is ingaged

#2 Put them all in with the rounded side facing out so that when you release the clutch that the plated will dissengage with out hanging up!

I am not sure which is best but is slippage is the problem then rounded side toward the inside. If dissengagement is the problem then face the rounded side out!

You never said what kind of Oil you are using?

MR hill i am still using conventional oil. I did an oil change with the kawachem 10-40. I am either goin with the ams-oil full sythetic, castrol r4, or the motul e-tech 100 on the next chnage however. Any suggestion??????.

Oh yeah what do you think about the 1534 stroker motor that is being eleased from Muzzy. talked to carpeneter and they do a turn key for like $6100. I have a friend that has been working on bike for about 3 years and is graduation from MMI in about a month i am thinking about in conjuction with him. This might be a years project because i am going to have to do it in stages. I want to start with a good head job what do you recommend./ I am thinking millenium but i am also thinking you also. Do yo uthin kthe head needs a n actually port or just a cleaning up like the 12. They say a bigger intake cam along with titanium valve springs and retainers will definitley unlock a few extra pony on top of the stroker. Or shoul i just do a drop in kit(pisotn, crank, rods) with no to head work
