A look back...

Well I was sitting around thinking of how the first year went with my 14. I was the very first one in my area to get one and have yet to see but a couple more. I can't wait until next year to see what the aftermarket has in store for us. I got a late start in points but came in 4th overall, I started 5 races late and had a shot at 3rd place but you know how it goes.... I'm curently looking for a sponsor of any sorts to help for next year.
Some of my first runs were slow compared to how the bike runs now, totally stock I could only muster a 10.06 out of the bike. Now were talking a 235 pound guy that took a year off, so I was alittle rusty..lol. I'll save you all the headaches and cussing I did fighting clutches and mounting credit card debt but I ended up dropping 8 tenths off my et and having a great time doing it. My fastest pass was a 9.23 on mr9 and 9.27 (lastnight) on pump gas. I had a few 9 teens pass's going but most was in trophy and I had to back off. The bike went a 9.00 with a lighter rider and had a 8.90 in it if he didnt have to pat it for a wheelie. Next year I got plans for a lock-up,wheels and some CF peices. I'm also going to drop some weight myself and not let that be a excuse next year. I'm hoping for 8.90-8.80's next year off the bottle and 8.50's on it "maybe more". I wanted to say thank you to all the people on here who gave opions and shared advice. I would still be in the dark on alot of stuff if not for you guys....thanks!
Shaun

Yup, its been one of the better riding years I've had , not because I went anywhere special, or put alot as many miles as i'd like to have,

Been one of the better riding years I've had because of the bike and the mods done to it!
A season to remeber whether I keep this bike or not!

After owning it for a week and getting used to it, I thought I bought a good lookin turd.
power was a little dissapointing............ until it was modded!

Pipe , flies, gearing (16/ 41 = 189 mph), (16/43 = 180 mph), are musts to experience this bike as it was meant to be before emmisions laws put the squeeze on it.

Stock gearing allowing unrestricted 201 mph is dumb and useless for the street, how many times you gonna use 201 mph , compared to 12% increase of torque advantage to tire with 16/43!

Thanks to Brock, Bikeland, and everyone else for sharing their experiences !

flatoutbu, how much weight do you plan on losing and by when? Just wondering cause I'm looking to do the same thing. I will run in the byron hardcore races next season and would also like to be in the 8's.

I'm wanting to lose at least 20 pounds at the start of the year. I figured I would get Thanksgiving out of the way and Christmas. For a guy my size (5'9) I should be around 180, but I have always been a little stalky. Losing weight is really hard for me, I have been the same weight "plus or minus 10 pounds" since I was 15. I always thought 10 pounds was good for a tenth but after watching my lighter cousin go 2 tenths faster on my bike (he's 170 suited) I'm not sure of that. I think traction will be a issue if I lose too much weight...which won't happen. I'm going to put the bike on a serious diet this winter too. I can see droping another 20 pounds off the bike with wheels and a few other things. I was thinking of switching to a sidewinder too which will drop a few more pounds off. We done the crude method of weighing the bike the other day (bathroom scale) and it came out at 490lbs. We dont have scales at my track or I could get a better ideal of where i'm starting and where i end up...

You can build your own scale.........

All you need to do is set up a see-saw type deal that is close to the ground and use plates from a weight lifting set to balance it. If you increase the lever length on the weight side --- and/or decrease it on the bike side you can measure it and do some simple math. Lucky for me we have a performace shop close by with scales. I am looking into some BST CF wheels too - they should be on sale by about the end of the year he told me.

Weird...I was just thinking of this yesterday. I have the steel and the weights so I figured that would be the best way. I like the Marvick wheels and the Dymags but I can't get anything till tax time. I'm already looking foward to racing next year!
