works for me

and the site owners really need to either scan better or stop resizing their pics larger than the original. I think the GSXR 1000 looks better, and the specs sound pretty nice. I will stick with Kaw though.

Scoop: 2007 Yamaha R1

The 2007 Yamaha news have been the best guarded secret in 2006. Not anymore... Look at the new gorgeous R1. New R6 inspired fairing sides and larger headlights and ram-air scoops. 6-pot radial calipers and a new heavily braced swingarm point in only one direction. Massive horsepower! Just how much is the big question. The new Suzuki GSX-R1000 weighs in at a claimed dry weight of 172kg. We expect similar figures from Yamaha.

If it's the real deal it's ugly, I don't like the useless second set of side panels, they're called barn doors in F1 and I don't like the thought of having ugle barn doors on the side of my sportbike. They don't even serve an aero-purpose except for one more thing to break when you lay it down and cost more to replace. Is the price of track bodywork more exspensive too? Ugly on the R6 and now ugly on this(R)one.

We'll find out Oct 4th when it's officially released.

Well, there it is.. I've gotta say that it still looks better than all the "new R-1" pics I've seen floating around since summer as folks have been trying to figgah out what the new "1" is gonna look like. Personally I like it but then again I've promissed myself a "big" bike next time, no more super or sport bikes for a while. I need somthin comfy and well rounded for all day comfort like the 14.

I wonder if they are gonna redo the V-max??

Thanks man.

I still passionately love my 12, but I much prefer the R1 in the twisties and much prefer the 12 for the longer trips. The two bikes are a great balance.

Mod's on the R1 are:

- Cox-Racing grill guard
- Galfers SS brake lines
- TechMount radar stand
- Watsen Design front LED's
- Gilles rearsets
- Clear Alternatives integrated rear taillight/flasher
- Yamaha Factory GP rear seat cowl cover

I couldn't find a license plate relocator bracket I liked (and even the shit I did find was $100-$175) so I custom made that. It mounts into the holes where the passenger foot pegs used to hook into and is pretty sweet if I do say so myself - tucks in nice and tight to the mid-pipes and looks like it belongs there.

I almost bought an Akrapovic exhaust for it (Jesus, if you think the Akrapovic for the 12 is expensive price it for the R1) but the factory exhaust is really, really light so I'll probably just leave it as is.

Blitzkrieg, did the yellow lipstick come from the factory on the sides of your rims or did you have them put there? I know the black ones I've seen come with the red trim on the rim, which that kinda' detail says a lot for Yami.

It's factory and its paint, not tape. I agree, I think its a nice touch.

The other thing that I would really like to see Kawasaki implement is Dzus fasteners. It's literally a 10 second deal to get the lower off to get to the oil filter. Sure does make oil changes a much more simple process.
