Damn You Guys and the Flies Out!

Was thinking the TRE and PCIII was at my front door today....needless to say it wasn't. After reading the "FLIES OUT" threads for the umpteenth time, I pondered the idea and went ahead and did it.
Took it for a spin and yup it's fast. I didn't notice any low end issues like another 14 I rode did with flies out. Happy Happy Happy....but I can't ride it with no PC III....damn UPS

I know the TRE and Flies Out don't pair up so it'll go up for sale upon receipt.
I just want my PCIII. Now I'll have to find someone with a PCIII map for flies out/Full Yosh system/modified filter - (took the aluminium mesh off the stock filter) ---> came across the filter access by accident and remember reading about yanking that mesh crap out.

Hauled ass around the block twice and shut her down. I likey
Took me 30 minutes from start finish...is that a record? The screws came out without the use of a hammer or any real effort. Just sprayed some "Sea Foam" and let it soak for about a minute.
Piece of cake mod, now someone send me a map pronto

I never doubted the fly out option but it wasn't the intended mod for me at first.....damn you guys!

I went riding with my flies out for the first time since Bonneville and noticed a significant difference. On a certain twisty mountain road I use all time time I found I had to brake before most corners. Now that my flies are out, I not longer have to brake. The back pressure slows me down before reaching the turns and I feel I'm more in control.

Hey Dude, thanks for inviting me to Bonneville. I ran into you at Richards back in Aug when I was sportin' my 170hp ZRX1200 on the dyno. We talked about Bonneville in passing but didn't think you were serious at the time. Good job at Bonney! Wish I knew, would've went with you guys and ran the naked class with the Zrx. Maybe next year on both the ZRX and the 14.
See you around

I pulled my flies and then rode to MotoGP - 320mi each way plus the riding during the 3 days while there and a lap around the track at 150+ track temps............PC.......we don't got no PC.....we don't need no stinkin PC - but I added it a week later for the next dyno run :-)

You're doing it the right way by waiting for your Power Commander zx14_1965.
Anyone who has seen the air/fuel ratio graph of a bike with no 'flies and no PC can see how lean it runs. Engine damage is almost a certainty without a remap.

Way to go, glad you saw the light! In all honesty, it took you only about twice as long as installing the TRE, probably, and saved $70 in the process. With the TRE, you have to get ahold of the harness, get two of the pins unattached, install them into a new connector, reconnect all the harnesses, then run a ground, all of which would probably take 15 min.

Is this the same guy who tried to "smack me" on the Ivans thread? Glad you came to your senses and tried the mod with an open mind. By the way, Greg ain't my buddy either.

It wasn't a matter of coming to my sense...more of being bored waiting on the UPS man.

my partner finally got his PC, we yanked the flies and did his first oil change last night. He's VERY happy. 42T should be here any day.

Why a 42?.......curious

A 16 front is very simple and a lot cheaper - plus a bigger increase. I went 16 front and then wanted about that much more again so went with a 43 rear. 2 teeth on the rear is about the same as 1 on the front. Not flaming, just curious why only 1 rear tooth for a change. My speedohealer came in last night.............16/43 is a little more than 20% off.

Received the PCIII a minute ago. Just one question, will I be safe running the bike with PCIII mapped for the TRE and modded stock air filter?
thanks!

If you are not comfortable, add 4% fuel in the 2000-4000 range in the first half of the grid. Can't hurt to run a bit rich down low until you can find a map for your mods.

Another member allowed access to his map for a Muzzy full exhaust, Flies out and modified stock air filter.
I compared the two maps and I saw a 10-25% difference in fuel mapping between the two from 2100 - 5600RPM. The TRE map was on the lean side. Man, didn't think there was that much difference in fuel requirements between the two options. But then again, his map was done with a wide band commander with forced air induction parameters. I'm sure that can be the reason for the variance between the two maps.

he wants a 42t because he's a hooligan.

I'm very happy with the 16/41, but may go to a 42 to halp propel my fat ass down the 1/4.

With the 16/43 I can loft the front on the 2-3 shift. It would be close to redline in the qtr though. The 42 or stock 41 may be better for that - ask Smokey............

Actually if you waited you would have the new TRE and map set up for the 14. Totally stopped (100%) the popping of my Muzzy which I thought was impossible with just a new set up. And this is the set up for the throttle plates removed. Meaning the lean condition mentioned in a review I read does not exist. Mind you my 14s gear indicator now says N at all times. It is on a different circuit. And a different TRE. I would have paid anything to lose that popping so I am as happy as can be. As well I could not believe that the vibrations I was used to feeling for the last 5000 miles were gone. I wouldn't have believed allot of this if I didn't feel it myself. Hence this is the reason I waited to take the throttle plates out. Not sure what flies means but I took my throttle plates out. I would explain more and post the new dyno charts ect ect. But most people on here just start complaining like children. So as most of the things I have posted I will first be laughed at. And later on will see posts stating what I did a while ago. You guys know so much more then me so no need to explain. Have fun with your 6th gear setting. I'll stick with my N. Oh this cost me 0$ as all and any future upgrades are mine for the taking. And yes the bike does light up with the plates removed so now I know what I was missing.
