Dropping the Forks
Anybody lowered the front end??
How much of the plastics if any do you have to remove to get at the clamp bolts?

Slipped mine 1in. no reason to remove anything. The glenmars look good with 1in...TB

I wouldn't go any lower than about 1.75". These are upside down forks, meaning that they get smaller toward the front wheel. If you raise the fork tubes too high, then hit the front brakes hard, the fork tubes my slide up and hit you in the face.
Schnitz racing just came out with some inserts that you put in the fork tubes that compress the springs, so you don't have to lower the tubes. I'd have somebody that knows what there doing install them though.
No plastic to worry about. I have mine slid down about 1.25", and I have lowering straps to cinch it down when at the drags. I only race mine, no street riding. Hope that helps.

Only planning on dropping them ~1", just enough to get my feet more flat on the ground.
If you didn't remove anything how did you get at the bolts with enough leverage to break them free?
Also did you increase the spring preload in the front? Rear?

Lowered mine an Inch and a 1/4 ..I have small hands and got to the bolts with no problems......I have strong hands .. turning wreches for 33 years helps ....

If you lower them more then 1and 3/8 " the fender will hit the fairing when the suspension compresses completely....

Is that 1 & 3/8 inch measurement accurate or just ball-park ?
I'm asking because I noticed that with my forks at standard height and the front strapped fully down I could just about get my fingers between the fender and the fairing. I thought it might be less than that.
I'd be interested to know because one drawback with strapping down is that the suspension is so compressed there is no travel left and no damping. I had my front bouncing a couple of times at the last meeting, it shook it's head a bit but I just kept the throttle nailed and it sorted itself out. With lowering that shouldn't happen.

bobc, mine has done that to me at the track a little. i went i think exactly 1'' and then strapped it. i can tighten my strap where i want it and my fender barely dosent hit the nose (i know you not suppose to pull down that tight but my point being lowering the forks 1'' is the most i would reccomend)

Lowered mine all the way for Bonneville. Straps weren't allowed. Worked great but I had no bumps.
