More racing ...New 1/4 numbers

Got to the drag strip around 5:00 and the temps were high 80s and 70%+ on the humidity... First pass l left soft just to check out the track.. 1.55 60 foot and ran a 9.37@147 ..It felt like a good pass so on the next pass a launched a bit harder ( about 5500) and just blew the tire off and ran a 9.66@145... Third pass pass i went back to the soft launch (4500) 1.54 9.37@147....Last pass before it rained !!!! I stepped the launch up to 5000 spinning hard in first then hooked up but down track it started spinning in 3 gear and spun after the 3 to 4 gear change .. 1.61 60 foot 9.41@145 ..

This really sucked ..I was looking to run a 9.20 but it just wasn't in the cards tonight .. The bike has dropped 3 MPH ( 145 from 147) i wounder if i was really spinning or the clutch is going away after 100 passes?..

There was another zx14 there , It had a Muzzy meg, 5 inch over like me , U4 fuel , air shifter, no Flies .....And get this NO P/C ....She ...That's right i said SHE had a 1.71 60 foot and ran a 9.20 @153 !!!!!!!!!! I have seen her run a 5.84@124 at the 1/8 mile track ...The Girl can ride...She said that she had no spinning on the big end of the track like i did but she was spinning bad out of the hole ... So maybe my clutch is going south? ... Smokin....

God i must have ESP because i knew you would say that ...lol.. The plate on the bikes reads ( if you can beat me you can eat me) and smokin is not eating anything YET !!!

Damn dude...sounds like yer gonna have to work for supper huh?...but that leads me to my next question...how does she fit all that text on a small plate?:P

BTW...how did she ever pull a 9.20 with a 1.71? Imagine what she could do with a sub 1.50!

are they gluing the track good.i try to see where they glue and aim for that.are you frying that tire while running up to the tree.

If the clutch can grip that well and light off the tire on the bottom, and then up at the top, you're questioning the clutch pack?
You'll know when a clutch slips at the basket and not the rear wheel? It feels more like you have to catch the throttle from rising any higher, plus, the bike feels like it lost the rear chain, only with a slight drag to it?

Since the C/S sprocket is your speedometer signal, you could watch the Speedo (once you hear the change in engine pitch) either rise in speed, (plates locked = tire spin) or sustain speed? (plates slipping)

How much does the female rider weight? You should both swap bikes for one or two passes? I bet she's so consistent (on the line) you might want to ask her a few questions?

Oh, and don't ask the question FBA wants to know?

I always out 60 foot her ...I'm 1.45 60s if the track is working and she is 1.55 to 1.60s ...

If she ever goes 1.50 she will be in the 8s for sure ....I just don't get 9.20s ,U4 fuel and no flies without having a P/C.....Some how without a P/C it's working and working damn good !!!! Maybe this P/C and all these maps are snake oil?

As for your clutch, hope you have a spare already!!!...But maybe you were Dragging the clutch a bit and or not in the throttle enough with the drop in mph!!!...If the clutch is bad then it will slip, you will feel that...

What rear tire did she have on the 14 and what gearing???

Throw a new clutch in it.....or...you could go back to your shims and see what happens. Personally i would go with the new clutch then you have the peice of mind. You know as well as i do 100 passes is ALOT of wear and tear...but oh so much fun!! Maybe weather played a big part in that too. Good job Lee.

She had a Shinko u soft and she is still running the stock gears.... I have the same tire but i have the 16 tooth on front now ...I think i'll try the stock 17 tooth next time out..

I still use the clutch to shift, i never could get that blip the throttle and clutchless shift thing ... I have tried 100 of time over the years and i aways miss gears ...
I just don't think the clutch is slipping at this point because when i shift to lets say forth it hits hard on the gear change ... After the hit of the gear change it feels hooked and then it feels like it's start to spin for a bit then hooks up again ...I would think if it was the clutch it would slip on the gear change and just keep slipping ...This has the feel of going from dry ground to wet and then back ....But it after the gear change and not at the change....Strange...

Lee if you shift without the clutch you will gain ET...

So do you like it with the 16 tooth???...I think if you go back to the 17 tooth at 62inches, you'll need to take the butterflies out...

Nuke...1.71 and a 9.20 @ 153 makes sense because of the butterflies removed, 62inch wheelbase and U4, then she just whacked the throttle open after she most likely bogged it!!!

Ive gone 9.35 @ 150 with a 1.61 60foot from a bog...

Mine done the same thing when the clutch started getiing soft. Just replace it and call it "maintance"...lol

Seen the ticket right after the pass..I ran her on that pass....I pulled her out of the hole and shortly after that she buzzed right by me....Wasn't great for my ego....I could hear her coming with that Muzzy side winder!!!!

so how could she be pulling you easilly, I mean your 60 foot times are 2 tenths quicker,
and your geared down wqith a 16 right?

Yes i have a 16 tooth ..That run i only had 1.55 60 foot...She has a Muzzy sidewinder NO P/C ...The bike is brand new less than 200 miles on it....I have seen all the work that was done to the bike first hand and the motor has never had the valve cover off . Stock clutch, The flys are removed, air shifted , 6 inches over and u4 fuel.... I have seen her run 5.87@123 with pump 89 octane fuel... 5.84@124 with U4 fuel...... I wanted her to ride my bike last night but it rained before we got the chance ...She also has a 06 zx10 and runs 5.90s@123 1/8 mile and 9.20s 1/4 mile ...

I know her as well from the track and she is very cute. Obviously kickin my ass every week makes her even hotter. You gotta respect a chick like that.

What is the deal with her running no PC with all the mods including no flies and running 153mph WTF? She claims the bike was tuned but how do you tune a bike without a PC? Is it really considered a tune?
