good night at the drags....sorta

You know i like to keep you guys updated on the bike so here goes....I ran a 9.23@148 lastnight (best so far) We had good weather with no wind at all...it was about 62 degrees with low humidity. I had a 9 teens pass going but had to back off because i was racing bracket and got ahead of the guy and i didn't want to break out, i pulled in the clutch and sat up, coasted at the 1000ft and ran a 9.30...damn just my luck lol! Put the cousin on the bike and he got a 9.00 at 151...damn he was pissed!! He wanted a 8.90...but i guess lastnight wasnt the night. Here is a breakdown of both passes
1.458 1.422
3.911 3.797
5.943 5.783
120.75 123.67
7.719 7.522
9.238 9.009
as you can see he was 2 thenths faster and 3 mph all down the track. This is with a 60 pound weight differance...which i expected a bigger gap than this but i'm happy. the bad thing about lastnight is i warped me steels...i tried to pull them out when i got home and a few of them are stuck...i will go back tonight and get them out. I have new ones on the way.

How many passes is that on the steels now?? Got about 50 or so on my complete clutch, and going Friday to burn it up. Just wondering if steels will be good for two fiber changes, or just one??

I counted 71 passes...twice as long as a stock clutch so far... i know you guys are going 50-60 passes on stock clutchs but i couldnt do it. I would really like to just put awhole new clutch in it but i dont really want to dump anymore money in the bike this year...we have 3 more points races this year..i hope it will last that long.

Steels were warped so bad i had to heat them so they would slide out.....also noticed oil didnt hold up. Maybe time to switch oil.

Finally got all the steels out lastnight, it took a hour and a half. There was 3 in the center of the pack that got so warped they had to be pried out. It not only warped them from being flat it egg shaped them..."ouch" lol. I think a lock-up is in my future...hopefully going back next week witha fresh clutch and going 9 teens...hopefully

Don't forget to order the beefy springs. Might keep everything a little flatter so no warping. I don't think anything will fix clutch life though. MTC does the lock-up unit. I think they are around $1200. You send them your clutch and wait awhile, then they send it back.

I have'nt verified this yet, but I beleive the old KZ had a 12mm drain plug?

APE make a flat drain plug for the KZ: DPK900 Drain plug only for OFC1000K $11.39
http://kzzone.com/billet.html

You will probalbly have to remove the guard on the oil pan
but I think this will gain easy another1/2" of clearance plus
less chance of cracking oil pan.

iflyphi...i have the springs shimmed now, which helped alot. The mtc lockup is a 2 stage..400$. They also have a multi stage for 800$. You do have to send in your cover and your pressure plate.

halvefast..thanks i'll look that up. A curb removed that drain plug guard for me...lol
