Check your Nuts
While installing the exhaust last night, there were a LOT of screws that were barely hand tight. Next time you have your plastics off, check your header nuts. 3 of mine were hand tight--at best. I've already lost 3 screws that have vibrated out. I know some of the more seasoned guys already know to do this, but I knew to do it too after my '03 12 lost several screws within the first 1000 miles. I told myself I'd check a them, but never bothered. I regret it now.

Yep i found this out when changing my buddy's exhaust out but only 2 were kinda loose .
Lots of fairing bolts were hand tight and so was the lower radiator support too!
Strange!

Ya - all the plastic screws come loose.
Haven't run into a loose screw or nut beyond the ones that hold the plastics.

I found my nuts loose also after changing to Muzzy!
A great thing to use is Lock Tite. You can get it from any Auto Part Store. They have Blue and Red................DO NOT use the red........cause if you ever have to remove those nuts....wont happen happen unless you cut it off with a welder. So the Blue is the way to go....................it comes in a little tube and looks like a blue glue stick. Put a little on the bolt, prior to putting the nut on. No more nuts vibrating loose!!!!

If you MUST use the loc-tite, just use it on the bolts that do not have the rubber/brass grommet. The Grommeted screws do not seem to be effected by the vibrations of the bike.(i.e. the bottom rear fairing bolts behind the pegs will not come loose). The lower fairing bolts are the ones that my need a dab of the loctite.

Red can be easily removed...don't know why you say it can't...

Hey guys....What is it with Kawasaki motorcycles having problems with bolts that always come loose ? It seems like this is the most common issue with Kawasaki's.
It seems like the ZX10 is having issues with this as well...There was a thread about this on another zx site and there were alot of 10 owners complaining of the same thing...

Basically you are correct, but Loctite does make a locking compound that is ok to use on plastic.

I found a lot of stuff loose when doing my exhaust. Even the two bolts that are in front of the tank were screwed almost all the way out.
