Motorcycle vs deer
Well I went riding up Angeles Crest HWY saturday with my son. He rides a zzr 600. On the way up the hwy a deer jumped right into him like it wanted to hit his headlights on purpose. I saw the whole thing from right behind him but I forgot to put the tank cam on. There was nothing he could do.
The reason for this post is to remind all of you who ride the mnt roads to beware, its fall and its deer time in the hills and mtns.
My son was wearing full protection and walked away from this bruised and sore but alive.
Ride safe guys!

Shows start of crash to end.

The deer.

the face shield was covered in deer blood and ripped off helmet.

LA's finest were there fast and took good care of my son.

my son - I made him smile. He wasn't happy, but he was alive!

Sorry we missed the mexico ride, maybe it would of been safer running over 150 mph. No deer in mexico right? lol

Glad everybodies okay man.
My buddy hit a deer at about 45 mph a few years back and it's not a good thing.
I remember him telling me "I only had time to get out the "o" in "oh shit" it happened so fast.
Your son had the smarts to be wearing the right gear (good Dad influence there ) and that is undoubtedly a primary factor in his walking away.
Kudo's to you both, bro.

A couple of years ago my Sis in law hit a muledeer at 70 on a Honda Valkyrie. Was a blood bath, eservated the deer. She broke an arm and had a few contusions about the face, open face lid, did have a shield on it. Was wearing a good leather jacket and gloves. Did a job on the Valk too. Was in Arizona summer and middle of the day. Ya never know.....TB

Glad you and your boy are ok
I use 18 wheelers like linemen in bad deer country.
I have had what I call "Post tramatic deer syndrome" after some rides at night

1Badzx12r... this is a quote from your last post..."Might just be on the cold and rotten side by now ".
Might I just say, by what your two posts have failed to say... and what they actually did say... I think that you are not only disrespectful to the rider who was injured, his father who posted the info and pictures... but also to the bikeland members on here... and I will ad that you seem to "just be on the cold and rotten side by now ".
I am sorry if your posts implied that you were sorry about the accident... I may have missed it... but when given the chance by Crotchrocket.. you still failed to say it.
So Cal 14... I am glad that he was able to escape the incident with minor injuries! It must have been hard to watch the incident happen... I can't imagine the feeling!!! Take care of yourself and your family! It looks like it was a nasty hit! Thanks for the reality check.. and the reminder! Here in Wisconsin the deer are about to get extremely active... I hope that the incidents are few and far between here...

I read where someone( obvioulsly a whole lot smarter than I am) gathered mountain lion feces from the zoo and deposited them at the road side along a stretch of road here in Colorado where there were several auto/deer collisions. The deer would show up to feed, smell the dropings and high tail it back into the hills. I had a near miss with an Elk Sunday. Those things are as big as a horse. Glad to hear your son is ok!!

a dood died here 2 years ago... hit a bull moose at 80 MPH at night.
The moose was big ... around 1100 lbs, didn't move more than a couiple of feet on impact.
The rider was decapitated.
Appeared he disemboweled the moose with his helmet, which caught the other side of the ribcage.
Ride safe and watch for wildlife!

Well at least we know what ya'll are gonna be eating for a while
That sucks on a bunch of levels , but is a great reminder to share the roads with everybody and everything including wildlife.
I hope he's not gonna do anything stupid like quit riding or anything right?
Hope to see you guys soon!

I ride up there sometimes and have never seen a deer during the daytime. I was with a bunch of magazine guys riding to the Rock Store and BAM....deer the size of yours there jumped right into the last guy in the lead pack. My brother-in-law lives right near the entrance to the ANF so we can ride sometime.......see you up there.........

Hey, I'm glad you faired well during this incident. Looks like you gave the Deer a hysterectomy or something!! But, I would like to partake in the Venison if you kept the meat!!! Oh, and noticed the military sticker - me too in the Virginia Beach area.

Ya he's stationed at Camp Pendleton here in So Cal. He's on his way out of the military.
The forest service took the deer and tossed it over the edge of the road on the right side.
The right side of the road was a drop of at least 200 feet straight down, good thing he didn't try to veer rt to avoid the collision, he could have went down the side where we probably never would have found him without a helicopter.
It all happened pretty fast no time to react. From my point of view rt behind him it looked like a red and brown dust cloud.

He flew over the handle bars after hitting the deer and was laying past the accident face down like he flipped.
He has some abrations on his hip and arm. He had holes through his leather jacket on both arms, holes in his shirt under his jacket and holes in his denim pants, he wears knee pads and shin guards under his pants.
Face mask was ripped off the helmet. He is now (few days later)complaining of major pelvis pain on both sides and his ankle is also in pain, plus all around aches and pain.
The bike hit the deer square head on.
The fairing was completely ripped off the bike both sides, headlights and all.
The radiator bent and all the fluid came out.
Front fork tubes are bent and twisted.
Gas tank is loose, handlebars are tweeked, levers are broken. typical slide damage, scrapes.
We are still suming up the damage.
