I always was told 2 slip the clutch and twist the throttle at the same time. now ever1s saying 2 throw the clutch? Im wheelieng way 2 much already if i throw the clutch itl stand up. ive seen fast riders slip the clutch almost all the way thru 1st gear. You guys got me really confused. I got a zx7 with 8000 miles of downright abuse never needing a clutch. Im thinking im back at square 1 just like my zx12.

I slide my clutch while twisting the throttle..But never all the way in first!! You will not get any 330 times slipping the clutch all the way though first gear.....My clutch is out just after the 60 foot mark...

kawasaki rick it takes alot of runs to get it down but it can be done without wheelieng. there was a guy at my track on a busa who asked me how I was launching so I explained it to him and he started to use it. he went from running 10.0's and once in awhile 9.90 to running 9.50s every pass. took him over 50 passes to figure it out put he got it. At first he would wheelie or bog.

With secondary butterflies still installed I've been using around 7000rpm off the line, nailing the throttle as soon as the clutch bites so the rev's don't drop at all and getting the clutch home as soon as possible. That means the clutch is only slipped up to around 50mph. Also with the bike lowered it's less prone to wheelie so you can get the clutch home quicker and that translates into forward motion. I only use the clutch off the line, after 1st gear I change up clutchless. Like I said, my clutch is fine.
It's been said here lots of times by better riders than me "you need seat time"

Also while I had my clutch apart I checked it against a ZX11 clutch. The 11 has smaller dia. fibers, so to upgrade I woud do like someone else suggested. Order th single outer plate and use some or all to replace the more common inner plates, it has more material and has longer pads to provide more surface area.

Yea it's worked good for me so far...60+ passes and still counting. My first OE went at 532....2nd at 750 miles...replaced all fibers with larger pad outside fibers and shimmed springs....ok so far 60+ thats twice what i had for both OE clutchs.

well, you guys were right about kawi not covering clutch under warranty. however, brocks has the spring spacers, but my question is, if i put these in, it will grab faster, making it a lot more wheelie prone, right?

Schnitzracing.com has stiffer springs. I'd try that before spacers. And yes, until you get used to it, it's gonna grab hard.
