Watch the ground wire... There have been a couple problems with the bikke shutting down.. and it appears to have been a bad ground as opposed to a bad PC...Also, the ZX-14 will shutdown the PC after a few seconds, so you will NEED to use the 9volt battery. Good Luck.. It is the easiest PC install I have done so far.. it is a "BIT" tight to get your hands in to do the plugs... make sure you don't pull on the wires.

You can always use a long flatblade to press the tab that unlocks the connector while pulling on it.

I loaded my files just using the bike running with NO 9V battery...it never shut down on me. Is this common to the 14?

Are you able to run the PC box all the way back to the rear of the bike under the seat? Are the cables long enough? I want to be able to access it easier. Thanks!

Yup be careful of that ground wire when I did the installation I couldn't start the bike, it would turn over and over but not fire. I used my own location for the ground wire. I looked at the instructions which said to put it behind plastic rad tank. I did it and fired up right away. I guess power commander is very sensitive to a good ground.

When I loaded maps with a bike running, it never shut down. No reason the 14 should either. As long as you get the "map upload successful" sign, your set to go.............

The PC is powered by signal voltage coming from the ECU. When you first turn the ignition on, the ECU sends power to the injectors, but if the bike isn't started, it shuts them down, removing power to the PC. So your choices are to keep the bike running, or use the 9v battery to supply power to the PC. It's that simple.

Thanks swft... that is what I was trying to say.. the bike doesn't shut down if it is running, but after a few seconds the power to the PC shuts off if the bike is not running. I felt that with the motor running, and dumping in a new map, it might be a bit tough on the system. (Not that it is... but it was just as easy to use the 9v battery.) I assumed that is why they made a power supply chord and included it in the kit. I will admit the second map I added, I did it with the motor running since the boys lost the 9v battery after my first installation. (I later found it in the yard by my rusty screwdriver and wrench... I bet my Dad would get a laugh at that... since I made many of his tools that fine brown rust color also.) paybacks are a ^%@#$..
