Buell Pegs?

Is there something with the Buell pegs. I thought I read somewhere that Buell pegs were better for some reason on the ZX14. Anyone know?

I installed a Corbin seat and the helibar risers( great for ass, wrists and back) now my ankles are bothering me. Sounds like corbin pegs are no good.

Yep, the "Buell pegs" supposedly lower your foot by about 1" without any modifications to the bike. Do some searching, you should find plenty of info to help out out including part numbers and install tips.

They need minor mods but I think they are the way to go. Cheap too.

Like CR said, you can remove the rubber, but their isn't a lot of grip for your boots. I used the LP round pegs and it feels like a HUGE difference. Amazing what a small lowering of the pegs can do for your knees. I'm guessing the buell pegs might be too low for me.

Buell pegs are in, what size drill bit did you guys use on the holes? Is there anything other than drilling the holes out to the correct diameter to make these fit?

thanks in advance

forget the drilling process, a dremel with the small sanding cylinder. Just grind them out nice and round.

yes install issues. The buell pegs are not a bolt on once you get the holes to the correct size for the pin. You have to grind them down to make them work correctly. Damn, I thought they were drill and mount. Nope. I used my bench grinder and a couple dremel attachments to grind down the mount so it would slide into the bracket(where the pin slides thru). Can't help with pics, my camera is in Tennesse right now with the wife.

I know this thread is useless without pics, but there is more involvedin the Buell peg process than I've seen posted. I can't elaborate on position or anything because I've got the bike stripped down. My Gen3 should be here in the morning. I've gotta finish installing the 16t & removing the exhaust. I'll post pics if I can figure out my phone.

Put them on mine, I had pulled the rubbers on the stockers, but the Buels give a good 1 1/2 in over stock. They look good also. Not concerned about them dragging, they fold up. I used my bench grinder to cut them down to size. A drill bit with a pair of vice grips will work to size the hole. At 67 the old knees are likeing them. Seems like they were about 27 bux the pair.......TB

So far I like them, it seems that they push the pegs a bit towards the rear though. The grinding had me worried at first, but there is plenty of material left. I did small grinds to keep the aluminum from heating up too much. I think aluminum gets brittle if you get it too hot....I could be wrong though.

Question for both of you guys...

If or when you stand up on the pegs while riding...do your heels rub on the exhaust? I stand often to stretch and that's an issue I had on the stock pipes. (not as bad on the Gen 3's)

Took me about and hour to to with a hand file.
Fit is nice, I did one side at a time to see the height difference.
Very noticeable, only thing is the brake pedal won't go very low,
runs out of adjustment, still can be reached with easy just not perfect.
Now if someone would just finsh building a taller screen
for this bike it would be absolutely perfect!

Sorry, no exhaust on my bike right now. I'll put money on it that it doesn't touch when standing. Should have the Brock tomorrow.

I did move the shift lever down a bit. The small peice of metal that protrudes from the kickstand(I guess to help you put it down) was touching the bottom of my foot in 1st. It has been removed & painted over. Granted, I've got HUGE feet, so you might not have this problem. I haven't started adjusting the brake yet.

Is it possible to bend aluminum??? I doubt it, but I'm going to find a way to have it located where I want it.

I'll get a camera from work tomorrow so you can see what I mean.

FBA--you might as well order a set, then you'll already have them when we get this stuff ironed out.

Buell pegs are riding a bit lower than I expected after I installed the Gen3. The right pegs is awefully close to the midpipe. Still haven't had a chance to shoot pics and adjust my brake and shifter.

Tomorrow I'll post up all the pics.(My co-worker set me up for failure on the camera today---go figure, He's one of those guys that idolizes his busa LOL)
