Taking Front Fairing Off Right Now !! Help Please..

I'm taking the front fairing off right now meaning around the head lights. It seems you have to take the side panels off first ?? Not sure. I already took off the windscreen, mirrors, screws, and the ram air duct caps. So can anyone tell me the next move please and things to watch out for. I figure if I wait here a little for some help it might save me an hour or two fucking with it lol. I have taking every piece off the bike several times but just not the front fairing. Oh and you know how the tip over switch bolts tightened before the rubber gromet could grab. Well it's the same with the top screw that holds your gauges on. Unless someone tells me that there is supposed to be some play in it. Which I never heard of before. I will pop another little gromet so it snugs up to the rubber instead of not doing that. So please about the front fairing I need a little advice. I will wait about 15 minutes or so for some help.Or maybe I will wait untill tommorow for the proper advice. DUBIOUS where the hell are you man I need some helpppppppppppppppppp. lol

Be careful taking out plastic rivets as they can be fragile and break easily.

I believe there are (2) 6mm bolts that hold the whole fairing on?
Look inside the fairing. The mirror mound is your main bracket. First look from the inside of the fairing... Carefully "pivot" the whole (slightly rubberized) fairing up and down... careful, it won't move much.
What you're looking for are the 2 bolts that hold the fairing in place?

Ok speed thanks. Yeah I have a manual but it is good to ask in here for any things to watch out for. I helped a few guys that were freaking out and couldn't get the panels off. Oh and this is just a new name I have been here a while. So the BS has no effect but you can type away if you please lol.

Straight up above the low beams at the top...think they're 10mm not 6, if I remember correctly...

Surgery complete. And I did it all with that screw driver you see on the floor nothing else lol.

Here is the 10mm you mentioned Busa so thanks. Part of the trick is ( and you can't get this from the manual) that you have to pull the two wire harness's that plug into the ram air ducts out. They are in the way of you getting a wrench or socket on them. It looks like allot of room in the pic but theres not. As well as a few other tricks like screws being behind rubber threaded gromets that must be removed, screw out,and replaced on re install. Maybe you guys got it without taking the harness's off but it didn't work for me.

Oh and the speedo bolt the top one out of three. It will tighten all the way down against the metal collar and still not hold it tight. So you need to ad a small rubber washer and it snugs up nice against the rubber. So thanks again to the regs that always come throgh for me.

I guess i better shrink the pics first next time lol. http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

I hear you but I have never been to that site. And I can't come on that much. So I come here where I know that there are guys that know 10 times what I do. In the hope of saving myself a giant headache which usually happends anyway lol. I think now that I have stripped her down for about the 6th time (except the front) my direction days are over. But what is that site? and do they have any other good 14 info ??????? Thanks again.................

I won't be back for a while I have allot of work to do on my 14. But now that I have the front off. I was wondering are there any tips to putting it back on. I guess not pretty much the same thing backwards lol. Thanks for the help. I'll be back when shes all finished. Um well probably the oppisite. I will be riding when shes finished lol. Be safe guys 4 real. We have had 4 motorcyclist die in the last 3 months. And that's just locally. One was a motorcycle cop. No not the one in NYC that got driven over and killed by that retarded kid. This was a guy I knew he was on his own personal bike not the cop bike. Passed a truck and the car in the lane he was going into jammed the breaks on and he's gone period. So keep your heads straight while burning on a 14. Peace................
