That would make sense, wouldn't it? Unfortunately, there's a bit of history. FBA likes to judge and play to the crowds sometimes...
I run 40 rear, 36 front. I usually run moderate, semi-legal speeds (75-85 on the highway; 65-70 in 45 zones; etc.), but I pretty rarely accelerate hard from lower speeds. I like to emphasize, "smooth." I've buried the speedo on several occasions, and run very aggressively in the twisties, when I'm in the mood. It's usually for relatively short bursts, though. Then I ease it back down.
I live in metro Atlanta, GA, so there's not a whole lot of "open, nothing"around to rip through. I refuse to ride around well-trafficed, public roads like an inconsiderate jackass. If I'm hitting the mountains and/or back roads during light traffic hours, and I'm in the mood, I'll have at it. I just like to ride. Not a big hot-dogger.

I also tend to get a lot of miles out of my tires. I don't take the bike to its limits.. but I definately "use it"... I also have to try to make my tires last since the cost of everything is going up daily... including SPEEDING TICKETS!!! FBA, it does appear as though that guy is able to go to the edge on the 14... it must be fun to watch... I guess I show my age and occupation though... my 14 is perfectly clean and like new.... I would die to have the bike all scratched up like his is. It kind of reminds me of the stunters who throw their bikes down and stuff... I also noticed that his tires etc.. are all dirty. He definately gets his money's worth. As I think about it though, I never treated a bike like that... I guess I better get the next PussyWIng when it is available... does it come with a free hip replacement... and hearing aid batteries??!! Anyway CLS... just ride how you like... and continue to be honest on here... FBA will fire at you now... and then jump to defend you on your next post. He says what he feels... and I don't think he really intended anything personal... If he did, or if anyone does, who cares.... so our tires last 3 times longer than others... that is more money I can put in the tank for the next ride... or spend on the boys' dirt bikes. We are not all the same... and we are ALL glad about that. Enjoy... PS.. I have 2,500 miles... and the tire is like new... and the brakes are like new, but the chain has stretched on me already.

I'm not fretting, in the least. Just making a response. I'm not concerned if he backs me on the next post, or not. He's already admitted to having the equivalent of "road rage" on the internet. As well, as writing off his rudeness to being "colorful" (His own phraseology, on both counts, if interested.). In any even't, no big to me. Just figured it was worth a response...
BTW, my tires are scrubbed to the edges. Again, just because you can, doesn't mean you have to, or should, do it all the time. Be responsible and considerate, and, I'm w/you, have fun.

WTF? Who can get 6K miles on the stock tire? You should be riding a PussyWing, not a 14. :P:P:P:P:P
I couldn't get 6k out of it if I rolled it downhill with the engine off.
Matt...now you can see where this is going...
That would be me on the way to 6K. Not there yet. I'll ignore the attack comment, considering knowledge of the past...Runs great. A lot of highway riding will do that. One doesn't have to be juvenile all the time to ride well. Just a street rider.
Again, why the hostility? Does my mileage bother you that much? Really? I suppose that's just more..."color," I believe you called it.
BTW, 'cause I know you'll care, I'm only getting about 37 mpg, avg.
Nah...wasn't hostility dude...was just razzin ya! That's just me
It does however surprise me that you are able to get that high mileage out of a rear...if you had said front, I would've understood that easily, but the rear...that's some seriously high mileage for a BT014...

I'm not firing at him...I have absolutely no gripes with him...like I said above, was just razzin the high mileage guy(s) on the 6K part of that poll is all.
I would also not want to have the war wounds that that bike had...mine is as clean as can be at 8K miles...I just thought that this guy was one heck of a rider to have the skills to ride the bike on it's plastics. He obviously knows what he's doing on this thing...you don't usually see things like that on the track, leave alone the street and that takes serious skills and experience...funnny on the post where I picked it up from, how he was bitchin' that KHI couldn't make a sport bike that could ride down low like that. I had a good laugh...
CLS, didn't mean to offend ya, it was all in harmless fun dude.

Cool. I obviously misread it. Kind of wondering why the blast from the past. No harm, no foul. Moving on, then...Love the bike, love the power. Pretty easy going most of the time, though. When I'm on it, it's usually a smooth, progressive build to the desired speed. Usually...

Gen. 3, flies out, TRE in, PC, etc., etc. Discipline, man!
I'm around a lot of traffic, and I like to put a good face on motorcycling. I also like to be generally easy on my stuff. Save pushing it for those special occasions. Costs me less money, and keeps the power "special." Keeps me out of trouble.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu@#$%$#^!!!!!!! I didn't know that dyno mapping kills your rear tire. They should just say it's 350.00 plus a rear tire.

psycho1122 -- if you look at his rear tires...it would indicate that he just rides hard and leans like a bastard IMO...
Tostito -- you can relax, it does wear the tire more quickly, but if you had say...50% life left on it before you Dyno'd, you'd lose maybe 10% ...not more than that really...not like you'd chew up a tire and kill it unless it was dead to start with.

I just look at it as "rear tires are just a cost of enjoying this sport". Whether on the dyno or on the strip or on your twisties..... there's a lotta' HP being transferred to the rear wheel.
It amazes so many are tire conscience around these threads. Comparing how many miles one gets out of a z-rated tire on sportbike I just can't seem grasp...I know its me missing something...
I expect to participate in such tire conversations when I'm like 75-80 and posting on the Goldwing or BMW threads. Nothing against them at all.
Again its me missing something here. The sun is now peeking out here in FL, I think I'll go torture some tires oops I meant enjoy my 14

Mine had 40% and was at about 5% when done. He said the bike would burnout on the dyno, even strapped.

I wore some of my rear tire off tonight! And swapped riding bikes with this awesome lady I met with a 14 month old lowered 'Busa. Anyway, I wore out some of her rear tire too! I still find it odd we are so tire conscience lol
We'll be riding again and I'll certainly have my cam with me for the occasion! She was so tiny she could barely put her toes on the ground on my bike.
