What are the differences between a 4 2 1 full system or the 4 to 1 system?

Can some one help me out ?

A 4 into 1 system is similar to the factory header but usually without the crossover pipes between cyclinders, and goes to 1 muffler instead of 2 like stock...... the 4 into 2 into 1 is pretty much like it sounds. 4 cyllinders are headered down to 2 (usually 1&4, and 2&3 then from those 2 collectors to a single outlet (muffler). Supposedly there is a little better exhaust scavengin with the 4-2-1 as opposed to a straight 4-1, but that is usually a design issue from the pipe manufacturer.
