Was out there last... Well, lets leave it at last summer, sometime.

My advice is:

1) Stop in La Hacienda in Alamogordo for lunch. It's the real deal for lovers of real Mexican food. You gotta cross the border to even come close.

2) If you see a white taxi coming at you in the middle of nowhere when you are doing a buck thirty or above, it's not a taxi. It's a NMSP. They got these funky ass humps on their roof that look like cab lights at speed. Thats not a cab light, it's some sort of antennae due to the wide open spaces according to what I was told.

3) RE: Item #2 above, a Crown Victoria has a 128 mph top speed.

4) If you really savor curves, look up "Silver City, NM" in mapquest and find your way there from where you are. I guarantee you will ball your tires up if you so desire.

5) Plan on stopping often for water. One bottle to pour inside your leathers, the other to pour down your throat.

Last time we headed for Silver City, the gentleman on the borrowed Buell tried to straighten a curve just outside of Hatch, NM. 7 was way too many in that particular group. We'll be 3 bikes if everyone invited shows. One cruiser to scout ahead for those white taxis....leaves plenty of desert to spank the ass off that trash talking busa partner of mine.

Was there last year, great area to ride.....be sure and stop in at the Quarter's while you are in Ruidoso. Also, make the time to ride out to the Inn of the Mountain Gods, it's only 10 min away and the views are spectacular! The lake and casino are a great back drop to a very cool ride.

will do. Cloudcroft & Sun Spot Road are always a blast. Quarters is a good bar, but I prefer Coyotes Bar and Grill.

My busa partner has already started making excuses...

thank goodness it doesn't rain in the casino. Most of the roads were pretty bad. Mud, logging trucks, COWS, and plenty of wet pavement. Inn of the Mountain Gods is a really nice casino, but didn't win a damn thing. Never did get the chance to hammer on my busa partner...there were just too many police and he acted like he didn't want to play. Overall, still had a blast. Can't wait for the big rally this month....Ruidosa turns into a MAD HOUSE!

Blitz, all the rain we've had has really played hell in New Mexico. I'll bet you'd need a damn dirtbike to even consider the majority of those roads around Silver City.
