Airbag for bikes - the pictures
I noticed there were problems accessing the link I supplied last time. So here comes the text and pictures:
This was a test performed by the German organization ADAC. It was done two times, one with and one without an airbag on a Honda Goldwing. The bike was travelling at 40 mph straight into the side of a Volkswagen Sharan. The outcome show that the driver' would have survived the crash with broken lower legs when the bag was active, but even this could been avoided with a different shape of the windscreen, in which case the driver most likely would have been able to walk away from the accident buy his own. Without the bag he was killed or paralysed due to a broken neck. The article also states that the bag would save the rider even if the angel was deviating from 90 degree and also if the rider was crouched down. In fact the results were so good that ADAC now recommends all motorcycle manufactures to follow Hondas example and offer an airbag.

This one is without the airbag

Very interesting, looks like it worked very well. I'm sure insurance companys and the goverment will look into forcing manufactures to start thinking about it for all bikes.

I think they should put the air bag under the seat so it launches you over the car.

I think they may prosper if they make this option available for the folks in these threads to put on their ZX14s.
The anti-stunt, all-gear only, halo wearing crowd around here would stand in line for such a product- (j/k)

i dunno if people would really want to spend the extra cash on that. think about how much it would make the bike prices go up. couple grand???
