Well it finally happened - me vs. BUSA I took the long way home tonight, PCH. I came to the red light and a few seconds later a Busa stopped to my rt one lane over. He turned to me and said "well, here we are" like he knows about the rivalry. I thought "man, I can't loose to this guy and I'm a newbee" launcher/racer. We had about 2 more 1/8 mile lights until it opened up so when the light went green we kinda rolled on slow then fast, testing to see what the other guy was gonna do, still being in town with cars we just rolled to about 100 mph in front of traffic then slowed for the next light.. He never passed me but was right behind.
When we got to last light leaving town where there was about 2 miles to the next light - it was on. I bogged 1st but still kept him next to me then WFO through 4th. I don't know how fast I was going because the scenery was going by so fast it was vibrating I couldn't see it and I didn't look at the speedo, I didn't have time to look back very good all I knew was he couldn't catch me. He had to be trying because when I stopped hard for the next red light he was 5 bikes behind.
That was the fastest I have ever traveled on the street. I wonder what 10,000 in 4th is on a stock bike is, I wish i would have looked. Things were happening fast.
Looking for him and the next light even with no cars around kept me plenty busy. I even drifted 3 feet into the next lane from the left lane before I corrected it.
I would not have done this if there were cars anywhere so don't condemn me, please!
Those frickin Busa's are frickin fast. How could anyone not like the Busa. I think its a beautiful bike.
My adrenelin flowed for an hour after we waved to each other and split up.
Maybe he was trying , maybe not, but this was way way fun.
This is what this bike is about, shear raw power, Today was a new day on this bike.

I've owned a '99 Busa, and it is a great bike. I love it, but the ZX14 is definately more refined (smooth)
and quite a bit faster. Cool story though, congrats. I hope we have good stories after the weekend.

He was triing, who the hell would let the other win, especially after all the smack these days.
Fuck i don't care what pulls up beside me .... its game on! LOL
Even when i rode smaller bikes and knew i WOULD lose.
BTW...WFO in 4th is about 250km, or 150 mph on the speedo.
Good story!
First day first ride , first hour I owned my bike, I take it out on a quiet hwy out of town for some mongo rollons to break her in...
What do i happen upon? I come across... a Busa..LOL
He didn't want to race and it suited me fine... she only had 50 miles on the odo.
Next day we go for a ride, he nevere bothered to race me again.
Starten to piss me off... no one even wants to try these days.
No fun in that!
BTW... its straight for 3 miles, no intersections, new pavement, 1 car comes by every hour or so.
We have no track... we make every attempt just try to keep it safe as possible.

not if you have a good lawyer... youll get off with a slap-on-the-wrist fine and community service.
the only excuse for a zx-14 being beaten by any bike (unless significantly modded) is that you are either a noob, or a fat noob.

I used to live in LA and PCH is very crowded with everyone on their cell phones checking out the babes and the beach. If you were to crash and burn and they carted you away how would we find out about it on this forum? We wouldn't. Come to think of it, everyone that posts on this forum is alive. Maybe we should have a link to dead 14 owners if their wifes would just let us know. This might encourage people not to race stupidly. Don't mean to preach but once had a head on with a pick up truck and I don't wish that on anyone.
And forget dubious-- he lives up close to Alaska where there is nothing around except icebergs, eskimos and draft dodgers. I think Bill Clinton was one of his neighbors.

Well Im fat (265 in leathers) but I am definately not a noob. I have tangled with 3 busas so far, two with the same basic mods as me, Pipe, PC III, TRE...they werent even close we rolled on at about 75 mph (i dropped to 2nd gear) they dropped to whatever gear they thought was comfortable...as soon as they would hit it...i would hit it. Not even close I would start pulling right away and would let off just as I clicked 5th...10 bike lengths or better. When we stopped they both just shook their heads in disbelief...The president of our local chapter of the SBF (sport bike freaks) and one of the busa owners, just said man I guess they werent kidding when they called those the busa killers. The other rider (a local member of the Ruff Ryders) has now ordered a turbo kit for his busa LOL...thats ok im getting ready for a 50 dry shot and some drop in cams LOL. For the run with the highly modded busa please see this link.
by the way running Brock Gen 3, TRE, PC III with Brocks map for said combo
By the way I also love canyon carving, I have shredded my first rear tire...and just ordered another God I love this thing. LOL

Countersteer,
Thanks.
And how big a bite out of my racing budget would a slap on the wrist cost me? 5-10K, right?
And then there is the looming 2nd offense after that.
In a perfect world streetracing would be a special license testing requirement wouldn't it?

Fat/weight rules on the mat.
The last time me and a buddy added weight to a bike, every 25# = about 2 bike lenghts in a rolling 1/4 mile.
I'm on a diet.
Weighyt training/practice will have to compensate for my weight disadvantage in wrestling.

I just looked at a map and it was about a 1.14 mile distance between lights so I'm guessing about a 3/4 mile run.
Where I live I tell everyone to look up all the time, police helocopters fly around here like fruit flys in an orchard.
And I did a 4th gear WFO run this morning on the freeway dusting off a 600 guy who just happened along splitting between cars, let him pass me 2 lanes over then WFO - see ya.
It was 150 mph+ .

Don't get me wrong I dont condone street racing and go around looking for races all day. I'm older and I pick my spots. I've been through that part of PCH many many times and knew the road. It was early enough that no one was around and anyway what was I supposed to do when the guy smiles and says "well, here we are"? Even my 2 1/2 year old neighbor kid on his tricycle knows what that means.
I tell myself every night "man, I've got to slow down". I bought this bike to satisfy my need for having the best bike out. It does it every day.

I can say its definitly the rider. If your down a roll on maybe not. But from a dead stop, its all about the riders ability. The bikes are to close to each other in hp. I could see if it was a 25hp difference or more.

Fontana does some street legal stuff, along with Irwindale thursday nights. Barona has a saturday night thing they are getting started. Keep your eye on pscaracing.com. they race at Fontana (california speedway) and have an et class. Or I think there is a race in october nmraonline.com. Look for us. Bronze Star Racing.

The rule is every 7 lbs equals 1 horsepower...either gained or lost. So 25lbs added equals 3.5hp lost. So when I replaced my stock exhaust with the Brock Gen 3 I lost 31 lbs off of my bike so it was like gaining a little over 4 horsepower just in weight savings.
