Hey FBA, alarms ready yet? Are they nearing completion? We have 3 bikes left that want one . . . ____________

Going on a 9-day ride in September... sure would be cool to show off the new alarm then! ____________

I installed a Scorpio as well. Works fantastic. The range of the transmitter lets me monitor my bike from my 4th floor studio. We have concrete floos and walls as well. It still picks up the signal with no problem. It's a great peace of mind as well. If if someone messes with my bike I will instantly know. It's a great deterrent in addition to a massive lock and chain to the building.
It's also fun to set off a few chirps when a hottie walks by the local coffee shop as well!

What impressed me with what FBA is working on is the size, amperage draw, pager, continues to scream even if they rip it from your bike, the way that it disarms as soon as you approach and arms when you leave the immediate area. That is at least what I understand anyway.

I am curious as well, I believe I am on the review list. It sounds like a winner, can't wait to run it through its paces, I have folks at work willing to "steal" the bike to see how it all works out.

Hey guys....almost there....final plastics coming next week or so...once I have them in hand...you'll all be getting your units...have an install manual in hand and will try to post over the weekend. It's a bit rough but very close to the end. I can supply more than one unit per person if you have more than one bike to test on... ____________

I'm still looking for an alarm. I park my bike in the bottom of a hospital garage in the day, and my office is about 1000 ft away from the bike - do any of the transmitter carry that far, and even through concrete?

My Scorpio works from the 4th floor of my concrete building. 1,000 feet is alot to ask with a bunch of walls in between. It might though. They give the range at 1/2 mile. That is straight line of site with no obstructions. Walls will drastically reduce the range. Even if the transmitter does not carry that far an alarm is a great peice of mind. Let security guards or people in a closer office know that if it goes off to call you.

Faster, how long are the batteries lasting on your keychain/remote? My partner has one that needs a battery WAY too often. Not sure what brand his is, it works great, but the battery getting changed every two or three weeks is for the birds.

Mine is the new one with a built in rechargeable battery. I charge it about once a week. You can upgrade to the new remote. If it takes AAA batteries just get a charger and some rechargeable batteries.

It's a CR2450 lithium battery...they seem to go about 6 months or longer so far, remember that they are 2-way remotes and are always on in page/receive mode, so you won't get years out of a battery like you would on a 1-way alarm where the remote does nothing until you push a button. Changing a battery every few weeks -- that's fucked.
Many people find that the battery charger thing is a pain...rechargeable batteries have a short duty cycle and require constant charging...so if you forget, bye bye alarm till you get it all charged up.
