top speed limiter??
Ok, I finally got my friend (who has a highly modded busa) out to play yesterday. I am however both happy and a bit confused now. My 14 has a Brock Gen 3 system, an actual ZX-14 pc iii power commander, and a TRE on it with Brocks map for my combination in it. My friends Busa has a Falicon Super Crank, Falicon knife edge rods, Muzzy 1464cc billet big block kit, and Web cams with just touch of head clean-up done to it and of course a power commander and a Hindle pipe and a TRE. The happy part is that His bike barely pulls me and only in 4th and 5th gears really...our 6th gears are almost the same as far as rate of pull and so are out 1st through 3rd. (OK his third pulls me just a little and I do mean a little..) Oh and did I mention he is 100lbs lighter than me and a very good rider. The confusing part is that my bike when we were playing pulled to 195mph in 6th gear on the GPS...it was reading way past the 190mph mark on the actual speedometer which I know is inaccurate. Where the hell is this damn speedlimiter I keep hearing about. and it wasnt just me. My friends busa pulled into his rev limiter in 6th gear and his GPS was also indicating 195mph...and yes we were dead even at that speed. My bike was actually still pulling when i let off it was at an indicated 10900 rpm in 6th when I let off and the GPS showed the 195mph. My bike is one of the early ones off the assembly line and I wonder if there is some difference. My bike also takes a little less oil than my best friend and racing partners ZX-14(his bike is a much later production run number). My bike takes right at 4 U.S. qts. and my friends takes about 4.3 U.S. qts. which puts them both at the exact same spot on the fill window..on the exact same stands in the same spot on the garage floor. Also with both suspensions set the same his bike rides alot different than mine. I have never felt 2 exact same bikes that felt so different from each other before. Has anyone else out there noticed any early bike vs. later bike anomolies?

If you're using a TRE you won't hit the speed limiter, just the engine rev limiter, eventually.

If you're using a TRE you won't hit the speed limiter, just the engine rev limiter, eventually.

According to Ivans the TRE does not remove the top speed limiter on the ZX-14. Supposedly you have to use a speedo healer...which I dont have.

TRE doesn't affect top speed on the ZX14.

Hmm....I'd take it back to the dealer. They forgot to install the speed limiter. It's a warranty issue, they should fix it without any problems. I have one of the earlier one also, but I don't have the balls to take it that fast.
Mine also only takes exactly 4 qts with filter changed. Weird huh? I have a speedohealer now, but just because of the gearing change.

BTW my owners manual says the bike is supposed to take 4.2 U.S. qts with a filter change...but it is a sticker in the manual...if you hold it up to the light..there is another set of numbers for the oil amounts...under the sticker they put in. In fact it looks like it states 4 U.S. qts originally.

If I read your post correctly 195mph indicated is 175ish true without Speedohealer/gear change[18t front]

W/GPS showing 195 maybe the TRE is affecting the limiter re: Bob C?

Was way past 195 on speedo....way down in the no marks area. TRE only locks computer into 6th gear for the intake butterflies...and since a 6th gear reading is part of what makes the limiter work...and since the inventor of the product says it doesnt effect the limiter I just cant believe that the TRE is the reason. Dont get me wrong Im not complaining...just curious if any other Early production 14s are also seeing any oddities or anomolies.

na , ny is act doing same thing, i didn't get want to 195 , more like 188, an it stayed pulling, only diff, i have a muzzy exhaust

at one pt m i just knew i was doing 190 something, cause i walk off from my friends busa, his busa has a power comm, K&N,full exh. i just left him by 15bikes, i do it all the time.

What early production number IS your bike? The last 4 of my vin are 0325.
Mine takes 4.3 quarts with filter change.
Anyone have a lower number? If so, where did you buy it?
Would be interesting to know where they shipped them first.
