Interesting discussion? In checking out the Wolfman site I notice that the Beta tail bag was more specific for the sportsbike. Why did you choose to use the Alpha bag instead of the Beta?

Thanx

Basically they are almost identical.. it depends on the shape of your tail section and if you want to switch to a dualsport at anytime... the Alfa fits the 14 perfectly.

Right on, I knew there must have been a reason and from the drawing on the Wolfman site of the Beta bag on a sportbike it "looked" from a 2d perspective that the Beta might have been a better choice.

Thanks for the clarification and the desemination of your experience with the product.....great wirte-up on the product as well. From the site info I would have ordered the Beta, but your experience tells that the Alfa fits the 14. That's good stuff.

Fish,
You all did a great job. Many who have never traveled (as you have) seem to think it's all about the look. Truth is practical has so much more merit than looks. I've always had a way of making things work, seems like the Alfa fits better than my tank bag.
Princesskiwi you earned a ton of respect by understanding a problem then fixing it.
Again nice job you all

Thanks for doing this review. I purchased the Beta tailbag specifically for my Utah trip. It was planned for 10 days but I wound up cutting it short and was only out for 6 days. I had no problems packing everything I wanted to carry. Everything stayed nice and tight and even though it rained on us several times nothing got wet. The bag goes on and off in about 30 seconds and stays in place without shifting even at speed in the twisty stuff.

When the bag arrived my initial thought was that maybe I payed too much. After 6 days and 3214 miles, it was worth every penny.

Its a good review, but lacking in objectivity. Disappointing in that it gives this products high praise in comparison to other "faulty" (unspecific) products. i.e. Fails to mention competing products used for comparisons. Is the Wolfman superior to a military duffle bag?
.
Maybe Wolfman is a paid sponsor of the site. My bad
.
As usual fish will be responsive.

I used the 100 litre wide speedpack through twisted throttle recently on a 5 day camping trip covering 2000 miles. (in addition to the tent bag) Its fit and finish was excellent and the double stitched zippers with dual over-sized zippers was a nice touch. Also came with waterproof packing bags.
.
I've never used a wolfman product so I can't say much other than there appears to be some good alternatives in the marketplace.

sorry, how is it lacking in objectivity? If we feel something sucks, we tell you. There's 6 years of info on this site, most of which is warning you about what sucks.

Perhaps you might want to browse for a while before you put your foot too deep inside your mouth.

Is it superior to a military duffle bag? In what way? What does your question mean ?

As a military duffle bag, a military duffle bag is superior at being a military dufflebag than a wolfman bag. As a motorcycle panier, a wolfman bag is better at being a motorcycle panier than a military duffle bag.

Pdonnell... the bar is down the street and it's still open

PS... I own several military duffle bags.

Lacking in objectivity means:
.
Saying other products we've used, but won't mention, suck in comparison to this product.
.
With our history of disappointments and delays caused by faulty gear, breaking zippers, tearing bags, self destructing seams and disappearing D rings, the Wolfman bags have been the most reliable soft luggage we have used to date.
.
What other products were so inferior to the wolfman bag you've reviewed????

First off, PK wrote the review, we didn't feel it was relevant to slag other companies in the review. This wasnt a "shootout" featuring 3 or 4 brands... the article is clearly a "lifestyle" piece recounting our objective personal experiences.

You can take the information or leave it... that's up to you. If you feel that you trust a magazine more than us.. then go ahead and listen to them. I can assure you that they dont talk back to you online. I can also assure you that we are always fair in our reviews, knowing full well that at any time the membership can question them. Certainly since anyone can buy the product they can validate our finds.

If you dont like the review, you are always welcome to write your own "better" review and submit it to us for our consideration. If we feel its worthy and objective enough, then we'll put it online.

I still recommend that you consider browsing the site for a bit more than a month before you put that foot deeper in there, bro

exactly

You should clearly understand that if we as a website endorse or recommend a product it's because we feel that it we not only live up to its promises in the real world, but it will withstand the "test" in the online environment. (often much harder than "real world" use)

Not everything passes the test.

-and no, wolfman is not a paid sponsor.

Fish,
There you go again. I'm just another smuck with a ZX-14 undeserving of posting on this site.
.
I didn't see your resume anywhere around here showing the qualifications required to post here. If being around a month doesn't cut it. Can you detail all the qualifications that can get me to measure up against you? How much longer have you owned a ZX-14 than I?
.
I've been around bikes for a very long time. And like you I haven't owned a ZX-14 very long. So whats it matter how many post I've got on a ZX-14 board?. I know its hard for arrogant small minds like yourself to understand but why's it matter dude? Or were you just proud you were posting on motorcycle boards when you were using stone tablets and hiding from dinasours.
.
Anyway its interesting to see how fast you go off topic when your panties snatch you the wrong way. Do you want to go back to the bar conversation now?

So if you don't own one. Why do you feel its important to bring up how long someone has been on a zx-14 board?
.
Does it boost your self-esteem bringing people down. Or telling them the bar is open. Or how long they'be been a member of this board?
