Muzzy rip-off? So I look into the fame sliders a week or so ago (they were on back order) Was told a hundred were being made. I look on the Muzzy website today and mysteriously they've gone up from $100 to $150. I understand price increases. But then theres bending over and taking it up the arse. What gives? Think I'll scratch that muzzy exhaust off my list to. sheesh.....

I just looked at their page after reading your post and verified that for myself. Thats incredible, I ordered a set at $99 just a few weeks ago and cancelled when they called and said they were on back order. I thought it'd be a good idea to have them, considering I'm trying for the first time in my life to learn how to ride on the drag strip.
Also I ordered a full Muzzy pipe through Scnitz after Muzzy posted on here they had plenty of stainless (and was in the process of making more Ti). Well, I was called back and informed all the ZX14 pipes were back-ordered 3 weeks until more header and mid pipes could be made. I cancelled that order as well (to include the ZX14 PC and gaskets).
I've nothing against Muzzy at all and won't engage in debate regarding that business, but am amazed how hard they've been for me to do business with.

Sort of got me mad as well I called Muzzy's over a month ago and was going to order the nitrous kit.. And guess what?? It was on back order... Dave said they will proably ship next week. He said I will call you.. No call... What the fuck?? Hell this 14 has been the most fucked up bike for aftermarket that I have ever seen.. Including Kawasaki bringing it to market the way they did.. Late as shit.. And then have this fucked up bike that had no damn low end torque for months until someone on this board told us about the secondaries.. I'm really turned off of this whole deal..

It's been said you have to be patient with new models. It is true neutering the low end torque does dishonor to riders who want "the fastest production bike ever made" but have to jump through hoops to get the bike they PAID FOR!
I completely agree with you!
But who knows what the deal is with Muzzy.
Patience.....Patience.....

uhmmm that question may answer the question "why is Muzzy asking $149 for the sliders when they were recently $99" ____________

They started at $189.00. Then he came to his senses and they were $99.00. I must have had good timing because I ordered a set at $99.00 and they shipped the next day. Now they are up to $149.00!! Too much $$. They are nice sliders but $99.00 shuld be the price. No more.

They had mine on backorder too, but I had them within a couple of weeks. Just be patient...................they are a lot better design than shoguns.................

shogun sells em, but they are not near as good as a design as muzzy's. I bought shoguns for my 10. I wish I would have bought the muzzy's due to stronger design..................won't make that mistake again.................

I realize that it is more of the principal that we are talking here... How can Rob tell us two weeks ago that after the original price of $189 he looked over the cost and realized that it was too high... and that nobody paid the $189... and then went to $99, only to raise it again... I like Muzzy... so I give them the benfit of the doubt that somewhere their costs went up... but it does look bad... On the other hand... it is 'only' $50 more... and how much does the plastic cost. I think that if you want the sliders for looks it is not worth it... but if you got them to save your plastic.. it is still a good savings. (I understand from the input on here that they work well, they look great.. and they are well made... ) Maybe Rob will offer a deal to bikeland members as he does with his exhaust??

yep....someone had Shogun sliders on ebay 2-3 days ago with a buy it now price of $37 plus $10 to ship (I think that was the price)...guess someone already bought em now.

Anyone here on good enough terms to structure a group buy? I've called 'em once about the $99 sliders a few weeks ago and thats all I've talked to them about. I don't know anyone first hand. Would be interested in the exhaust and sliders. But have a really hard time swallowing a $50 increase just because they are no longer on back order and are available.

There's no way Muzzys would go a group buy if they can't keep them in stock in the first place. We're going to have to wait until supply catches up with demand, then try for a cheaper price.

Schnitz still has them on their website for $99.95. I ordered them through my local shop about two weeks ago for $99.95. They said it would take about 20 days before they would ship from Muzzy.

Just placed my order (backorder) for a set from Schnitz... since it's pre-paid, maybe I'll beat the price increase. ____________

I have the Muzzy ones, and yea they are great for 99 bucks.
I remember a thread a while back where "Rob" stated that the decision to charge 189 had been his marketing departments and when he became aware of the price, he had personally reduced them.
So the question I have is, WHO put them back up?
Time to send ROB and email, or call him personally(as he stated we could do).
And as for the Muzzy exhaust.... BROCK, BROCK, BROCK!

Sorry guy's, after the first 200 sets went through production we reviewed the actual costs to produce. The bad news is that the cost to produce was more than what we sold them for at dealer price. Since we can not stay in business losing money I had no choice but to raise the price. The good news is that a couple hundred of you got a great deal. We are trying to find some way to reduce the cost of production without compromising quality. If that is possible you will see a price reduction. Buy the way it is not the plastic that cost so much it is the 7075 aluminum and the special bolts. We could change to 6061 and low grade bolts and they would look the same and could sell for 99.00. We won't do that !!!!!

No frame slider is worth 149, leave alone 189...the only reason he is selling them at that price is because he has them and no one else does. To me, sorry but that's gouging. He will never see another penny of my business. I bought the sliders from them at 99...and that will be the last sale they ever make to me, especially after all the controversy with the maps and PC3's...you know the old saying, "Once bit twice shy"...

Well, I really have a sour taste in my mouth over the whole issue. Enough to look to wait for a more reasonable deal later (another maker?) Also, my brother and I have decided to reconsider the Muzzy exhaust purchase.
.
On another note I e-mailed Muzzy 3 weeks ago with a question and got the standard reply "...thank you for e-mailing us we'll get back to you within 24-48 hours......yada...yada......" Well guess what ? Going on three weeks now and still waiting for my answer to a fairly straightforward question.
.
Hate knocking a manufacturer but what the f&*& is Muzzy's problem?
.
Rob Muzzy,
Running outta stock is one thing. Using it to jack prices 50% when stock is replaced is another. How many people (myself) called when you were out and wanted to buy them and now are being screwed. This is why: PEOPLE SHOULD THINK LONG AND HARD PRIOR TO DOING BUSINESS WITH YOU.
