Hot hot hot

So today as I walked out of work at 3PM (started at 0500) and was met with the 96 Degree heat, 110 with the humidity (NO really, here in Canada) the last thing I wanted to do was put on my leather jacket.
Had a great ride home, but damn was it hot, felt like standing in a Blow Dryer.

Got home, ripped off soaking wet Jacket, Shirt, Jeans etc...

Well just got back from the grocery store where I saw a guy older than me (in his 50s) walking around with Major Bandages on left shoulder, upper and lower left arm.
I have been around long enough to know road rash, so I said "Road rash?"
He looked over said "Yea, fucking cage pulled out infront of me so I had to lay it down...
I will never ride without my Jacket again!"

it's easier to Wipe off Sweat than Blood

Just a thought

I've slid along the road before. Fortunately it was on a day I was wearing a leather jacket, ballistic nylon mesh pants, gloves, helmet, and boots. After that experience I decided riding gear was a requirement every time I went out. I have both a non-perforated and a perforated leather jacket. It's in the high 90's here in CT (hot air coming from Canada if you can believe that). Perforated leather does pretty good even when its 95 F (as long as I'm moving). Have a Joe Rocket Phoenix mesh jacket too but don't feel as safe as when I'm wrapped in leather.

I had a guy at work tease me once about wearing full gear on a 100F day.

He is a custom chopper guy.

So i walk over to the big industrial belt sander and turn it on. I then grap his arm and walk him over to the belt sander( I'm 6'5" 320 kinda a ex-football type guy).

So I start to pull his hand into the sander and he starts to SQUEEL like a girl and pull back. I tell him he does the same everyday with his whole body at 60 mph why is he afraid of a little scape on his hand??

I guess he never thought of it like that

Enjoy the heat... welcome to Texas! Well, at least we don't have the super-high humidity to go with it. My parent company is in MN, and when I'd talk with them in the winter, I'd brag that it's 60-something and a great day for riding, but it would be -10 or something up there. They'd laugh, but come right back and say "well, at least it's not 100 here in the summer". HAHAHA... I guess the laugh's on them now. They have the high heat *and* a bunch of humidity!!

Don't know what rain you're talking about. Our "rainy season" (if you want to call it that) comes through in October, then again in May, and even then it's only about 10 days worth. The rest of the winter is prime riding season... except for the occasional "cold" days where it gets below 40 or so.

When you watch the weather forecasts for Texas, remember that showing "rain" for this part of the country means that a storm *might* roll through if the conditions are right. But it's gone as soon as it starts. We rarely get those socked-in storms that last for weeks like the Northeast does (been there, done that). There's a common, and very true phrase about weather in Texas: "Don't like the weather? Wait a minute... it'll change". That's how quickly rain dissapears around here.

My bad...
Saw on the news today that part of Texas has received 6 inches of rain in past 3 days... Major Flooding.

And, I still like sledding, I can dress for the cold, but damn, I can NOT dress for this shite.

Mid 70s to Mid 80s, fine, but 97 here yesterday with 85-90% humidity... No thanks.

Yeah, I think that's out in West Texas somewhere... maybe El Paso area. Don't know what's up with that.

It's going to be 100F here all week, but the humidity is low-ish (40-60%), so as long as you keep moving it's bearable. Also, I'm up in Fort Worth where the humidity is typically lower - the guys down on the coast (Houston/Galveston/Victoria/Corpus) have to deal with the heat *and* humidity... yuck!!
