zx 1400 vs 1970 plymouth superbird

went to the new york state hot rod nationals in syracuse a few weeks back and saw a clean 1970 plymouth superbird....like a superbee...with this huge four foot tall wing across the back of the car with a nasty sounding motor and some old guy driving it,...anyway he was in front of me waiting to get on the interstate ....when the light turned red he takes off with slow traffic in front of us and nails it. the car sounded like a giant hoover vacuum cleaner and sat low on the rear tires...1970 style and just took off....the guy didnt stop and went through 3 lanes of traffic into the passing lane with the thing floored. I stayed with him until he started driving nuts in traffic....the whole time he was watching me in his rear view mirror...I swear the guy never looked ahead or at the traffic.... just me.I said to my self this is crazy and a good place to get killed as I watched him blow past traffic at 150 mph. I dont think he expected a little red zx 1400 to keep up with him.....he must of been running moon shine or had a date with daisy duke

It's way too fun stalking "fast" cars, I do it all the time just to see what they got. It's all power to weight. They would have to get 3 pounds (approx.) per horsepower (550 lbs./180 RWHP)to beat you. Maybe 4 lbs./HP with rider. I don't think there are that many cars out there that do that on the street. My son on his ZZR 600 and his friend on a Busa got all they could handle from a Carrera on a toll road out here. My son dropped off at 150 mph (approx.) wide open and the Busa was pulled by the Carrera and he watched them fade into the distance, so you never know. He who has the biggest balls wins! Most cars are no contest and I don't think most drivers are expecting to pull a bike unless they are in a tuned sports car like a Vette or a Carrera or the like. Just remember even though they drive a fast car doesn't mean they are drivers. Anyone can steer a car! Bike riders IMO are better drivers, more in tune to traffic and more alert. Dumb car drivers can make a mistake that will hurt you more than them, so be careful.

All it takes:
1000hp/3000pounds
1500hp/4000 pounds
Nearly all of these are on trailers

That's the other issue with racing - racing anything really. The ONLY fast Hardley I ever came across rode so badly that I let him go. He did the whole rev at the light with "the look"- then proceeded to light up the rear tire in first which pitched him towards me at the start. I was cautious there bacause I half expected it but what I didn't expect was the same exhibition in second gear

If the whole time he was staring at you in the mirror and swear he never looked ahead at traffic tells me you were staring right back at him the whole time. You weren't watching as much as you should of either.

I'm usually satisfied just knowing I could. Occasionally, someone goes out of his way to egg me on, and in those cases, I usually oblige The last go was a 12 cylinder jag. After pulling away from him so fast, I lost him in my mirrors, I backed off only to see him come roaring by me. Needles to say, I hammered her, and quickly passed him again. He did give me a thumbs up as I went by.

14 black.....thats the car. same big plymouth up the side and wing. the nationals pull people from every where for 3 days to syracuse for the expo. the town is full of cars that cost a lot of money...people put their whole lives and souls into these things. I didnt expect the old guy to drive it like a teen in heat but I made no move to provoke him....I just stayed behind him until he got to crazy with all the traffic....for all I know he is still going down the road at 150mph. it was a super clean and fast car and alot of fun to watch. sounded really mean too

Yeah buddy, that must've been awesome...sounds like some rich guy that was a good driver that had a modded 426 Hemi (rather than the 440 Six-Pack - they came with either, and maybe other iterations)...

What color was the Superbird?

Looks like the '69 Charger Daytona (even more rare!) went for $4000!!! Amazing...there are probably a few out there with hardly any miles at all worth $250-400K.......................
