Would be wise to carry larger "sidestand foot" in this heat...

I was at a friend's apt. pool Sunday in 92ish degree heat. I parked the ZX on asphalt with the sidestand without putting a piece of wood under it...went back to check on it an hour later and it was indeed sinking into the asphalt. I looked around for a piece of wood in the bushes to put under the "foot" which cured the problem. Would hate to see anybody have their ZX topple from this potential "summertime blues" scenario...

I always carry one in my back pocket. The MC dealers around here always give them away for free at events. There is always the crushed soda can in a pinch.

If we had problems with 92F around here, I'd think the entire bike would fall into the pavement at our current 104-105F temps!

I used to have problems with blacktop asphalt when I lived in NH, but have *never* seen anything like that happen since I've moved to TX. They must mix it different in the northern/snow climates than down here. You guys have to deal with the freeze/thaw issue, maybe the asphalt is softer to deal with that.

The only time I'm looking for a foot around here is when we have to park on dirt or gravel... and then, I just find a little rock to add support.

I know that everyone.........well almost everyone worries about global warming, the fact is that the earth overall has cooled since 1998 even though CO2 levels have increased. This comes from very reliable data by leading scientists. Of course scientists that that say global warming is not supported by the data are all accused of being in the oil companies pockets!

The Sierra Club sells more memberships however, by spreading fear about global warming even when hard scientific evidence does not support it is happening.

"The bane of science is a lovely hypothesis destroyed by an ugly fact'.!!

And us humans have been tracking temperatures on earth for oh, maybe a few hundred years? And the earth has been around since, well, the beginning of time? That's a mathmatically insignificant sample to say that the earth is "warming". Hell, magnetic north and south are gonna flip AGAIN pretty soon, did we cause that too?? I wonder what we did to cause the ice age? Shit...

I think we need to continue to focus on the pollution we as humans are creating, not on global warming. We all want cleaner water and air.

I was in LA last week on holidays and the air pollution is not as bad as it was back in the early eighties..............noticably better in fact so even with way more people they are doing a better job there.

Agreed. The last thing that we want is the density of the atmosphere & polutants to be so thick that we don't even NEED a side stand for our bikes!

On the other hand, if it wasn't so darn hot here this week (107F yesterday), I'd have ridden my bike to work at least twice instead of driving the car. At least I'm able to carpool with the wifey 2 days a week...

I think the whole GW Theory is a bunch of rubbish as well. Now I blame EVERYTHING on GW, just to help show how absurd this whole mess is. BTW, I need to take a leak . . . must be global warming.

I almost lost mine. I parked it, went into work, and when I came out at lunch it was 1 1/2 " in the parking lot. Had a hard time pulling it out cause it closed in around the foot. This was in May in Northern Michigan. Two hours from Canada. Can you believe it. Now I park it in the shade under the overhang on the cement sidewalk. I also have a custom SS plate I keep in my pocket.

I have a 1/4 aluminum plate with velcro on it. I store it right under the right handlebar down by the shock tubes. There is a flat heatcover right there, and it stores my plate quite nicely, accessible when the bars are locked in the left position. I hate asphalt...
