Oil capacity: Mikee likes! So, I'm getting ready for that first change. Checked the owner's manual. Nice to see something other than 3 qts of oil. 4.3 w/filter change is cool. Given that about the same amount of oil stays in the motor as a 12R, that means that more oil stays in the sump longer, for better cooling and longer life.

Whoa! I bet you had a blast! And yes, I'm planning on a trip this summer. I'll prolly head down and visit peeps in CA, maybe swing by Dino's place in OR first. Yesterday, on the road home, I ran it up to 6K in top gear. Didn't whack it, just rolled on smooth. Took a couple, maybe three seconds and there I was, at 120. Was the smoothest, most stable quiet and effortless120 I think I've ever experienced Just amazing...
So changed the oil this morning with 599 miles on it. 4.3 quarts on the dot. Still running dino oil through it until I get it fully broken in. Gotta say that Kawi listens. Dunno if they listen to us, or the dealers, but the oil drain plug and oil filter are absolutely cake to get to. Not really necessary to pull any panels, but I went ahead and pulled the lower left just to see better. The panel is hinged and secures with 3 - 4mm and 2 - 5mm allen cap screws and a single fixture up front. So it's about a minute to pull and replace if you want. With it pulled you can reach right in and get your man-hand on the oil filter. No need for crazy straps or anything else. Sweet.
