? on shifting
My bike shifts harder from 1-2-2-3 gear change then3-4-4-5-5-6 is smooth. has anyone else noticed this same thing, and it clunks pretty bad going into 1st from neutral. Just getting some other feedback. not complaining or to worried about it. And how is your bikes for valve noise?

Mine sometimes is real smooth going n-1, sometimes I have have to slip the clutch to get it to go in @ all, sometimes it drops in hard. Haven't figured it out yet. RPM's, bike position, how it was parked, etc. Anybody else?

On a similar thing mine wants to jump if you start it in gear(clutch is bled), and the clutch seems really noisy when idling not engaged. Soon as it is engaged it quiets down. The dealer says thats normal for Kaws. I don't remember my old 1000 doing that but thats a different system.

Shifting between 4000-6000 rpm is rough. Riding at 5 am I'll shift at 3200-3800 rpm and it's pretty sweet but akward. Normal day riding shift over 6000 rpm at least 1-2-2-3 and it's smooth as well.

Exact same things as mine. Also shifting n-1 mostly sounds extreme hard and loud.
My dealer also said it's not unusual for big bikes. But my ZZR-1100 didn't have these probs.

This weekend i noticed mine engages from neutral to 1st louder then usual - loud clunk.

While in Neutral, drop the clutch pull in the clutch about 3/4-7/8th of the way . Mine slides into first gear as if you were riding.
Note all bets are off if your talking about a cold engine, can't help you there, mines clunky as well.

If your bike seems excessively clunky going into first, check your idle speed. If it is on the high side of the normal idle range, often you can get rid of most of the clunk if you turn your idle speed down a little.

mine idles around 1000, is that good?
sometimes i noticed when i tighten the chain to normal adjustment, it helps on smoother shifting.

All good points, mine is at 1000 for idle as well. Chain feels about right on as well.
