speedo 10% off????
I went across the big Mackinaw bridge Saturday and it has one of those radar sights that post your speed. Speed limit is 45 so I set it @ 55 and when I went through the trap it read 50. I haven't set up my GPS on it yet weather has been shitty and when I ride I don't want to deal with it.

I've been going through the archives for an hour can anybody tell me were or how to find these. Yes, I used the search. This may be covered but what kind of difference is there with a front sprocket change?

My speedometer was off 7% before the sprocket change and 13% off with -1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket. (all GPS verified)

I keep hearing from a few peeps in the know that there is slight inaccuracies w/ gps. Not that it's a big deal. I just see posts like my speedo was off 7.8% or 8.5% but if the GPS is off by 1%+ or -. Well, you get where I'm goin w/this.

Does this bike top out at a true 186 mph or 10% less i.e. 167.4 mph with this bogus speedo thing? If it does top at only 167.4, it ain't no Busa killer. The manufacturer's all seem to have speedos that err on the optimistic side, probably to help sell their bikes.

According to posts, the bike tops out at approx. 186 true [10,400rpm indicated] w/stock gearing only.
Gearing changes affect this according to their correction factor.
Speedo Healer corrects only, also according to the entered correction factor. According to SH/posts.
Untested, on my 14 but agrees with all posts/my calcs.
Maybe testing this weekend, my SH is installed. My 18tooth front is not yet installed.

This is my question. Couldnt someone with the sh with the remote ext just set the adjustment %. Then ck the indicated speed on the healer to see how fast it was going. You could even do it on the dyno like one of the other guys did. On sh site they say it shows the top speed. The dyno and the sh should be close if not the same.

No. But that would be nice wouldn't it?
You have to flip the switches on the SH box, then enter corrections w/remote.

Thanks for the link. If I understand correctly the sh will correct the speedo, but the speed limiter goes off the tach in 6th gear??? If the speed limiter goes off the speed sensor, couldn't you dial the speedo way out with the sh and achieve a higher top end. You could also go the other way to limit top end, why anybody would do such a thing?

Huh? All the remote does is display your stored top speed when you press the button. Or, you can press and hold the button for two seconds to erase it. All other functions of the remote button are only accessible when you're in programming mode, determined by the dip switches.

matt thats what i was talking about the stored topspeed on the remote. That and the one from the dyno would or could be accurate. zxk1r said his dyno showed 197 well with the remote wouldnt it show the same thing when the pressed the button.

ZerMatt,
On units equipped w/remotes, corrections are entered with the remote after setup buttons are activated.
I guess you can disconnect remote and still enter corrections on the unit. I've never tried that.

in my case I just payed for one and dont have a gps. I want to see how the to over ride the restrictor. I would be going by others numbers.

Fastest,
It does sound like a small point doesn't it?
I like to read real numbers, not do math, especially when the volume gets turned up.
So I care alot.
Even GMC makes speedos accurate now.
I would even like a 220mph speedo. Any ideas on that would be a help?

Just set your speedohealer to -7% and be done with it. You may not be 100% accurate for your particular motorcycle, but tire wear is gonna throw that off anyway.

When that trooper spins around in the median to follow me I would like to know how fast I am actually going. That is why we have speedos isn't it? If I'm doing 175 and the radar goes off I would like to know if I'm doing 70 or 80. When you hit the binders that hard it feels like you could get off and walk at 70. If the SH doesn't correct the speedo then I don't understand why use it either except to prove to someone your hitting a certain speed or if your triing to reach a certain number through tuning for Bonneville or something.
